Maybe he's brainwashed by the real villains to act evil or something?

This sounds like it could be an epic movie. You have the Guardians of the Galaxy with the Nova Corps all in one movie. My question is will this lead to the next Avenger's movie as what we all heard a year ago? There are rumours Thanos may be held over to A3, so possibly not

I wonder who'll voice Rocket Racoon? You want a British guy with a murderous tone, so I also agree with Simon Pegg.

Uh... because Thanos is awesome? "WHY?" because I really don't feel like waiting until 2018 to see Thanos. Plus it's a bit naive of a business practice on Feige's part to assume that Marvel's superhero comic book movies will be able to sustain their popularity over the next 5-6 years.

I took it as Thanos wrecks things in Avengers 2 and is resolved in 3.

And here's your "holy s***" casting for GOTG (much like Robert Redford was for WINTER SOLDIER)..... Glenn Close is the leader of the Nova Corps.Speculation is alive and well as to *exactly* who she'll play. Possibly Nova Prime. John C. Reilly's role (if he takes it) would be alongside her character, I guess.

So she's playing a villain, huh? I honestly can't think of any female Guardian villain off the top of my head. Nebula maybe? Actually you paint Gillan green and I think she'd make a decent Gamora.

I actually think it's smart to save Thanos for the third Avengers film. It'd be pretty pointless have him in the second. Especially when you consider the options of "Where do you go from Thanos?". Like another poster mentioned, maybe he shows up at some point in Avengers 2, manages to overthrow them and the world in some fashion, and in they continue building him up during Phase 3, and in the third film that's when they adapt the Infinity Gauntlet storyline.

My issue was never with Gillen the actress, she's pretty and quite able, it was with Amy Pond being this massive Mary Sue super capable never flustered super bitch.
As for who she can play.....I think this film is beginning to become a cluster f***, so why not chuck her in as Nebula.
Although it all depends on whol Lee Pace is playing.
If he's Adam Warlock, she could be the matron of the Universal Church of Truth, but if he's Captain Mar-Vell, she could be a random Kree like Dr Minerva.
There really aren't that many female cosmic villains. Im struggling to think of any that would actually work in a film.

Karen Gillen as the villain? Neato. That's some interesting casting - Amy Pond fans will either love it to see her range, or hate it because it's not Amy Pond.
No idea who she could play - Nebula seems likely (she had a close connection, at least for a little while, to Thanos), though the site I saw the news at mentioned Malevolence - the daughter of Mephisto, from the 30th century GOTG age.
And I hadn't thought of the "cluster****" aspect before, but the casting continues to go on and on with brand new characters being revealed regularly. Hell, we're still waiting for a voice for Rocket Raccoon to be cast - how many brand new characters (to us) have been cast since then?

I read some classic Guardians when I was a kid and that's all I know about the group, except a very little bit about the modern version from this forum. Though the new group is comprised partly of characters I am familiar with they seem to be different versions of these characters, at least in terms of appearance. I've decided to try to learn as little as I can between now and seeing the film, to hopefully have the most interesting experience possible.

I think he might honestly be Adam Warlock. That's what I thought as well.At least with that role there should be some makeup covering up his tired ass dark eyes.

Adam is meant to be a perfect human.
No one ever looked at that ugly craggy faced old bastard and thought perfect.
I'd be very surprised if he's Adam Warlock.
