To add on, I think Ric Flair had a 9 in Stamina. . . Eddie Guerrero to my recollection only had an 8. Then again, 60 Minute Man, etc., etc. Stats in the games at that time were really crappy in general. In Day of Reckoning 2, Carlito and Shelton Benjamin had a higher durability rating than Rob Van Dam.

I so wish the DOR series had attribute editors for the superstars. RVD in DOR1 had 5.5 in Strength; only .5 more than Mysterio.

WM21's Season Mode is sooooo unrealistic. Long of all people would never retire the tag team division.

This has probably been asked, so I apologize.
Is it possible to edit the Championship Contenders Ranking in Universe Mode? If so, how?

But Christian over Edge? Never thought that would happen, I'm shocked that got past McMahon to be quite frank.

Yeah, powerhouses excel at perhaps (and your mileage may vary) the most valuable stats, strength and durability, but their overalls are bogged down by lacking in other areas.
That's why I don't tend to freak out when guys like Show and Henry don't have super-duper high OVR ratings.

Man, I swear this game like, learns from current storylines sometimes. Basically, it was to be Attitude Era Undertaker (Who stands in for the modern one in my Universe) Vs the Current WWE Champ, only for 'Taker to get ambushed and replaced by none other than CM Punk.
They've literally never made contact outside of this moment.

If nothing else, I actually really liked 2008's roster. Maybe I'm just weird, but I love the ability to pick someone like Kenny Dykstra or Marcus Cor Von.
Speaking of, as much as it bugged me heading up to it, I'm going to be really disappointed if WWE 14 doesn't also do the Attitude Era thing. Personally I'd probably make one based on the Mania 15 through 17 roster, but the problem you'd run into there would be there'd be no way to do the story without Kurt Angle. It just plain couldn't be done; you might be able to cover for Benoit, but Angle, it's not happening.
Though I'd rather have a proper story mode again instead, so eh.

That's part of the charm of older SmackDown games, going back to them and reacquainting yourself with superstars of the past, even if they were midcarders. It's like they're new again.
As for the 15-17 roster, don't forget the Hardyz and the Dudieyz, you almost can't do that time period without them.

I think it's hysterical that last year, this thread went for about a year straight with 99% of the talk regarding '12. This year, we didn't even make it to March without the thread devolving to discussion about old games...
That's not on anyone here, that's on THQ (RIP Thankfully). I'm seriously hoping that the THQ staff that's been kept on by 2K is dropped just around the time 2K14 is released, and that 2K15 gives us a lot of new thing to talk about.

I'm seriously hoping that the THQ staff that's been kept on by 2K is dropped just around the time 2K14 is released, and that 2K15 gives us a lot of new thing to talk about. As much as '12 was heavily flawed, I had a lot more fun playing that game (well, Road to Wrestlemania aside) than I ever have done playing '13. Every time I've tried to do a Universe mode in '13, it books some of the stupidest shit imaginable, has no understanding of face/heel mechanics, puts tag partners against each other for no reason, and you end up with people like Gangrel as WWE champion. I really wish THQ had stuck around long enough to at least put out a patch, as that two-count glitch also makes the game so much less fun to play. It may not sound like much, but when you get to a two-count in '13, you know you've won the match. That sucks any anticipation or excitement out of the match you're playing, and leaves you feeling a bit empty about a win because it's so sudden. In fairness to THQ, the graphics are lovely this year, the roster might be the best we've ever had, the crowd sound is an improvement although the mixing really needs work, and Attitude Mode is a welcome replacement to the boring Road To Wrestlemania, for now at least. But I feel that THQ's troubles left us with an incomplete game, and it's a damn shame because it had all the potential to be the best game they've ever made. Just like '12, it had at least one major flaw holding it back, and so we're left with a game that was almost great. Hopefully 2K can bring greater quality control and actually listen to feedback, rather than having Ledesma spending his time getting pissy over trolls on Twitter instead of actually addressing flaws. Somebody really needs to put Yukes in order, too.

Somebody really needs to put Yukes in order, too. I have '13 for Wii, so some of the problems you've stated don't apply to it (ie. the 2 Count), however the Wii version has it's share of bugs (don't even get me started on ladder matches when 2 guys are on the ladder, then they jump up & and standing on top of the Briefcase, before both men fall!) Personally, I got more enjoyment out of '12 than I have out of '13. The flaws in '13 have prevented me from playing it as much as I did '12 at this point. I'm really hoping 2K clears house after '14 comes out & really puts a great effort into all future games.
