I hope that Staal is ok. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I hope to hell it's "only" a broken bone in the orbital area and that's it. If it's his eye, he may lose it.
If I were a player in the NHL without a visor, I'd be playing with one immediately from now on.

You'd think spotting the Blues a 4-1 lead would be a lock.
This is the type of game that could psychologically devastate the Blues.

Once more: Ok, that game was even greater than last week's Ducks game. Holy Shit did we dominate the 3rd again. 4 f***ing goals in one period again! f***, it was a miracle to get one goal the whole game throughout this season and we got 4 in the 3rd on back to back nights. God, I love this f***ing team.

So it's 23 in a row for the Blackhawks now (29 counting last season, six off the Flyers' record), and the Hawks have set a new team record with 10 wins in a row. Next up is the Avalanche at home tonight.

Damn I didn't even know Hamirlik was on waivers. Oilers should of claimed him but no because the only way to get a skilled player is to draft and to trade or sign or claim anyone above a Belanger or Ben Eager or Cam Barker is just silly and stupid!!!

Oilers should of claimed him but no because the only way to get a skilled player is to draft and to trade or sign or claim anyone above a Belanger or Ben Eager or Cam Barker is just silly and stupid!!! You wanted Hamrlik back? What is this? 1998? At this point yes. Have you seen the Oilers D? Outside of Justin Schultz all the members are either awful (Whitney) (Peckham), mediocre (Potter), average (Petry young but learning) (Fistric for a physical 5-6 pairing guy) (Nick Schultz), or good (Smid). Like I'm only comfortable in saying that J. Schultz or Smid or N. Schultz are the only D players that can play in the top 4 pairing in all 30 teams. Another thing I've been in gripes with the Oilers management is the lack of pursuing an accomplish veteran player to play for a year or two to act as a mentor role for the young kids, teach them work ethic, and to push them hard enough so they don't want embarrass themselves in front of one of their idols. Like I've been campaigning for Oilers to try sign Jagr since 2007 which should of been a given considering he made a big spectacle with the 2006 Olympic Czech teams coach when he was refusing Jagr's request of putting Hemsky in the first line with him. Hell Jagr was possibly the one who got Hemsky to sign the Oilers extension contract last season the day after Philly visited Edmonton last season. Speaking of Philly do you think Philly a team filled with so many rookies forwards l, prospects, young talent, and Hartnell learned a lot of new things from Jagr? Before the Pens became a really great team they had Guerin, Recchi, Sykora mentoring Crosby and Malkin with Gonchar mentoring the D-Corps. They had Federov, Kozlov mentoring Ovechkin, Backstrom, Semin with the Capitals. Recchi once again in Boston. You had Robert Ladd for Toews and Kane. What does Edmonton have? Shawn Horcoff, Smyth, and Hemsky? You actually need a consistent veteran who played for a few winning teams before.

not just mentoring. Sid lived with Mario for a few years, Gino lived with Gonch, and Staal lived with I think Recchi but I'm not sure (he lived with somebody). Plus you had guys like Brooks Orpick, Ryan Malone, and Rob Scuderi as younger players who were already respected guys. Doesn't hurt that Ray Shero does a good job trading for people who fit like a glove with the team... I think only one year did his trades really backfire (Poni, Leopold, and Kovalev).
Just based on what I see from the Caps, they aren't a well built team. Flashy, but not much dirty work. While the Flyers, and this is just based off of what I've seen, just have underperformed. I know the JVR/Schenn trade has kind of sucked for them, but otherwise, it's weird that they've struggled like they have.

You need a mix of a few key skilled veterans who are used to winning to mentor. Look at the 2007 Ducks. They had a great mixture of young talent like Perry, Ryan, Getzlaf, Bryzgalov and then you had Pronger, Selanee, Niedemayer, Giguere (spelling errors I know on the phone) to help the team. You can even look at the over achieving Ducks this year (yes I know Fahst has a lot to do with it) but you have 43 year old Selanee leading the team like a boss and I know Fowler lives with Scott Niedmayer.
