Until the angle consists of nothing but Swagger and Zeb screamping racial epithets at everyone and anyone, I don't how a campaign against it isn't going to backfire. I mean, if the hoopla around it scores WWE more mainstream coverage with the like of Fox news et al, it can theoretically lead to more ratings, and I don't see why WWE would compromise that in tribute.

No idea if this has been posted elsewhere or even in this thread, but there's far too many threads and replies to check but WWE has responded:

This is one of those times that I feel really, really compelled to throw the "Wrestling fans are stupid!" insult back in the faces of non-fans.

So is this the first time a board member has turned heel?
I like his gimmick though, not sure if it has main event potential but we'll see.

Funny thing is if they did this exact gimic in the UK they would be faces. You can't go a day without reading about a benefits cheat in the newspapers or on facebook.

I'm developing a similar gimmick for my character that chastises the public for claiming things they don't deserve . Considering who I work for, I've got a goldmine of figures and statistics to use. Naturally I'll be heel as audiences at these types of shows are most likely on some form of benefits themselves.

Maybe they'll need to broaden their appeal, with the help of some new changes to Fandango.
Mind if I.... cut taxes?

I'm gonna buy more stock than the OP so my opinion outweighs his.
What I'm saying is, don't get too attached to the notion of stopping this.

If they got away with turning Slaughter into an Iraqi sympathiser and got away with JBL patrolling the border, this doesn't mean shit.

I honestly think it would be hilarious if this angle ended abruptly and WWE issued a statement citing "concern from stakeholders" as the reason.

I want the end game to be El Generico coming in to tell the Universe that he trained with Swagger in Montreal but at that time he was known by his real name, Jacques Swaggaire. After a tumultuous feud, the Mexican-Canadian convinces Swagger to return to his roots. The new/old Jacques returns by announcing 'Je veux que mon pays de retour.'
