I suppose you could say Owen Harts character was meant to be a complete jerk. Yet as a person you hear nothing but positive things about him from the people who knew him Actually, on one of Austin's DVD's he calls Owen a punk and says he never did apologize for breaking Austin's neck. He goes on to state that he feels bad for what happened to Owen, but that they certainly did not get along back stage.

Mick Foley the person - Friend to all children, and has a ridiculously hot wife.

Vickie Guerrero, super heel, is by all accounts one of the nicest people you can meet. Not according to Chavo Sr. He says Vickie cut off all contact with Eddie's mom and the rest of his family soon after he died. When he was ranting about it on Twitter a few months ago, he had little nice to say about Vickie. Eh, the Guerreros have fought among themselves since they started wrestling.

Mark Henry, the character - Hall of pain, trash talking badass who splits wigs.
Mark Henry, the person - Soft spoken teddy bear of a man, by all accounts.
It's interesting, really... I once heard someone explain that the nicest people play the best villains, because they're secure enough to go to really dark places.

Chris Benoit His character never killed anyone. Well maybe he was attempting murder on his opponents the whole time but he was so bad at it that not even a broken neck Sabu thought no way a guy that clumsy was trying to murder me.

I liked Owen, many stories revolve around what a nice, funny guy he was. But, at the same time, I've read many stories of people basically not speaking ill of the dead and making him out to look a lot nicer than he was, not that he wasn't nice, but like breaking Austins neck and never apologizing for it, he did have his moments. Monster heels are to easy to do. Like Vadar, Foley, Henry, Kozlov are supposedly the nicest wrestlers that ever existed I'll throw in Big Show to that list as well. I think monster heels kinda need to be nicer guys, I can't imagine as an Olympic power lifter, a giant, a Sambo champion, etc, that you'd get much work in a scripted sport or even find many people willing to wrestle you if you were a dick who wasn't concerned about injuring people with your size/strength/skill. WWE has been telling us this for years, "you don't wanna mess with an angry giant."

Big Show threw one punch knocked the guy out.

Daniel Bryan comes off in real life as one of the nicest, humble people you could meet - strange considering how shady the business of pro wrestling is.
His character is an egotistical narcissist.

Doesn't Kane actually have an English degree? Was he potentially a teacher too? I imagine the Undertaker is likely pretty far from the dark gimmick. Mark Henry seems like a big teddy bear despite the monster gimmick too. He was a substitute teacher Class: Loud cacacphony, unruly behavior Mr Jacobs: Class, I'm your subst.... Class: Loud cacacphony, unruly behavior Mr Jacobs: Class! Class: Loud cacacphony, unruly behavior Mr. Jacobs: CLASS!!! (a spitball hits him right in the forehead) Mr Jacobs: (raises his arms and brings them back down as the trash can bursts into flames) Class: complete and utter silence

Sledgie, In Kayfabe he seems like just an occasional minion of Tripple H, but according to AngryFan he pretty much runs the whole damn show answering only to Steph.

Didn't Alberto Del Rio once say that he based his heel mannerisms on someone from his family he really doesn't like?

Scott Steiner: the insane, rambling, genetic freak with a short temper, is IRL a well-spoken man from a highly-educated university who has to dumb himself down for the benefit of the audience.
Am I doing it right?
