Back during season 2, we rarely had anyone vote less than a 6.

Now, it's no problem.

Honestly, I do understand why Twilight would be afraid to show off just what she could do; I think a fair number of ponies in town would have known about her connection to the Princess, and she also saw how much Trixie showing off and being a braggart bugged everypony. She didn't want ponies to think that she was like that, too, and she even says as much near the end of the episode. And remember, she had only been around a lot of these ponies for a few weeks/a couple months by this point, so I can forgive it.

I gave it a nine; I kind of see Trixie as a bard more than a legitimate wizard type of spell caster, which isn't a bad thing by any means. She brags and boasts about the amazing things she has seen and done, and she's a performer, but her magic is more suited for a stage performance than, say, fighting a dragon. And in that regards... she played her role especially well. Plus, it did a lot to show that Twilight really was something else; before this episode, we hadn't really seen what she was capable of and why she deserved to be Princess Celestia's personal student.

I know that things have changed with hindsight. But we can't leave these episodes unrated forever, and I trust these guys and girls to be honest about their opinions.

This is something we really should have done in the Season 1 to Season 2 break, but I think we were too busy running general polls on the show, plus I don't think we were planning to keep a scoreboard of them.

I said a similar thing a few topics back, I believe. It was mostly due to where The Last Roundup sits, and I still think that its high ranking was affected by Derpy more than the rest of the episode (which... was an alright episode, but not Top Three worthy by any means).
