Wrestling should always be part of the Olympics. As a former amateur wrestler, I am 100% in agreement with you. Wrestling was not only one of the original sports of the modern Olympics, but the ancient Olympics as well. I don't recall any ancient Greek art depicting the titans and the gods in a basketball game.

And one of the sports they added to replace it was golf. F***ING GOLF. I'm sorry. But Tiger Woods isn't coming to your country unless you pay him a s***ton of money or you have a Perkins nearby where they stay. I'm betting only a few will remember that joke. Golf is actually pretty awesome. Boring as hell to watch but hitting 18 holes with an 18 pack of beer with your friends is great. Now something like Synchronized Swimming, that's not a sport, if anything its an art. If they are gonna have art at the Olympic when are they going have a Battle of the Bands.

I used to play golf so I respect the hell out of that game. But it would just feel weird seeing it at the Olympics. It's not even that far-fetched of an idea, since players on the tour come from all over the place.

I fully expect to see Kurt Angle turn up at the next olympics and start Angle Slamming the competitors in other sports and putting the Olympic Committee in Ankle Locks until they reinstate it.

On the positive side perhaps whatever governing body that there is for wrestling can work a deal with ESPN or someone to broadcast their Super Gold Medal World Championship Tournament every four years. I fully expect to see Kurt Angle turn up at the next olympics and start Angle Slamming the competitors in other sports and putting the Olympic Committee in Ankle Locks until they reinstate it. I'm laughing my ass off at the thought of Angle's WWE music hitting during a dressage event with the Iron Sheik Camel Clutching the jockey and Angle Angle Slamming the horse.

Wrestling was not only one of the original sports of the modern Olympics, but the ancient Olympics as well. I don't recall any ancient Greek art depicting the titans and the gods in a basketball game. I read in the Japan Times the other day that the IOC was "very impressed" with the presentation that Tokyo has given into trying to acquire the 2020 Games. The welcoming group included two Japanese medal winners in - you guessed it - wrestling. The other two cities (Madrid, Spain & Istanbul, Turkey) have yet to present. The vote for the 2020 Games will be done on September 7. (I doubt Madrid gets it, as Europe has just hosted a Games last year, and Russia is getting the Winter Olympics next year, which may count Istanbul out as well.) So, from what I gather, if Tokyo gets the Games, it hinges on whether wrestling will still be around, as they do very well in the lighter weight divisions. And Tokyo has the influence to keep it going. Japan, it's up to you.
