Super 8 was a piece of crap. It was trying to capture the magic of past films but in a very blatant and unoriginal way. All the "emotional moments" were very hammy and got on my nerves. Yeah, I was very disappointed. Especially how the murderous man eating alien got away because he was "misunderstood". What kind of shit is that?

- Team America's soundtrack was 10X better than the film. Mostly because it was actually funny. Without hyperbole, I have never hated a movie more than I hated Team America. I wanted to walk up and punch the screen to exact some measure of revenge against that grating, unfunny horror.

This is a good topic
I agree with "Cabin in the Woods". I thought it was interesting but not as awesome as everyone made it out to be. I still liked it but very overrated
Fight Club - Another movie I thought was good but not as good as everyone made it out to be. The book was better (as always)
Dark Knight Rises - I thought sucked.
I disagree with what someone said about LEO D - the dude has been great in all his movies. Blood Diamond is sick and vastly underrated.
Terminator 3 isn't as bad as people think

-Avatar is a great example of Hollywood patting itself on the back and thinking it made something relevant. I've never seen another film take so long to say so little. but because it's James Cameron and he made a couple of good movies back in the day and it cost a lot of money suddenly it's "great". that movie's the perfect example of everything wrong with the film industry, from a creative standpoint.
-Will Smith hasn't made a good movie since Men in Black. Men in Black 3 was entertaining but it wasn't because of him.
-I'd rather watch a big dumb action movie that knows it's a big dumb action movie than a movie that thinks it has a relevant message to tack on when it's really just pretentious.
-all the good movies Lars Von Trier makes will probably never make anyone forget the time he rambled about how he's a nazi.
-Salo is a gross movie, sure, but the real problem with the movie is how long and boring it is.

-all the good movies Lars Von Trier makes will probably never make anyone forget the time he rambled about how he's a nazi. I don't get why so many people seem to think he was being serious when he said that. There are enough things wrong with him (like his blatant and unapologetic sexism) without criticizing him for what he isn't. - I love the Saw franchise and am sad it's over. Apparently it's not, I heard they are planning a reboot (groan) and apparently want to see how the franchise can fare in mediums other than film (yay!). - Casino Royale was one of the most boring, stupid, insipid crap I have ever seen. It's just as silly as the previous films but now it takes itself seriously. As a result it is nowhere near as enjoyable as any of the "silly" older movies, including Die Another Day. It honestly felt more like a James Bond rip-off to me than a proper entry in the franchise. Also Daniel Craig just doesn't have the talent or charisma to pull the character off.

- Avatar is a ride, not a film - Kristen Stewart is a good actress - No one gave a bollocks about Vesper Lynd - Star Wars hasn't been good since 1983 - Spielberg peaked with Schindler's List.

I enjoyed both Daredevil and Green Lantern, I found The Dark Knight Rises to be an meh movie at best, and Spider-Man 3 wasn't as awful as people made it out to be.

-Spider-man 3 was great. probably the most accurate take on Eddie Brock outside the comic. and Tobey's Nerd dance was hilarious.
-say what you will about Nic Cage's recent filmography, the guy is always entertaining.
-I could not care less about Tom Cruise's personal life, the only reason I don't like him is he plays the same smarmy git in every movie.
-I think it's telling that the most fun I have watching movies in theaters these days tends to come from entertainingly bad ones like The Room rather than legitimately good ones.
-part of the reason there are so few good horror movies these days is because the art of the soundtrack is disappearing. nu-metal does not create suspense, it creates soundtrack dissonance. the one thing that Rob Zombie's Halloween remake abortions got right was the soundtrack. then again it's hard to f*** up a soundtrack centered around one of the most iconic themes in film.

* Batman Begins was the best movie of the Nolan trilogy
* AvP 2 was a great popcorn flick that seemingly embraced it's badness
* The Avengers reminded me a lot of Independence Day in the way that the first viewing was SO GOOD... and it's almost unwatchable after that.
* Blazing Saddles is the Greatest Western Movie Ever Made.
* I completely LOVED Zardoz for it's sheer absurdity.
* Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood is the Wayans Brother's best movie by far.

Spiderman 3 was good, the only issue I had with it was that everything seemed rushed. The Sandman story, the alien costume saga, and the rise and fall of Venom was a lot for one movie and made it seem like Venom wasn't much of a threat compared to Green Goblin or Dr. Octopus since it took a whole movie for Spiderman to take down either of them.
Some of them are ok, but Kevin Smith has never made a really good movie.
The Pixar movies are annoying.
Pretty much all computer animation sucks, I wanna watch a cartoon not a video game.

None of the Marvel produced films before Avengers were all that great. Iron Man and Thor were solid, the rest were kind of boring.
Cloverfield is one of the best movies of the last several years.
The Twilight movies really aren't that bad. They're not cinematic masterpieces by any means but there are far worse movies out there.
Kickass sucked and the main character was an insufferable douche bag.
Pulp Fiction is boring except for the Samuel L. Jackson parts.
Crash is a good movie.

*Me and You and Everyone We Know is the most overrated film of the 2000s. Forced quirkiness as a vessel for ugly people romantic fiction is the only thing less appealing than a snuff film to me. Does anyone expect the critics actually like that film? I thought it was great. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) But I can definitely see the criticism having merit, it's a film that could come across like Dolph Ziggler, mediocrity with the pretense of being exceptional.

I hated Crash.
Lethal Weapon 3 was so bad I didn't even bother to watch Lethal Weapon 4.
I liked Batman and Robin.
My favorite Batman movie was the one with Val Kilmer.
Despite the portrayals of blacks, I thought Gone with the Wind is a great movie. Scarlet O'Hara is one of the most selfish characters ever. A lot of directors and producers could learn a lot from David Selznick.
I agree. Citizen Kane is very boring.
I liked My Little Princess with Shirley Temple.
Kristen Stewart and Marilyn Monroe are/were good actresses.
Ace Ventura 2, When Nature Calls was one of the most unfunny sequels I have ever seen.
I loved all of the Saw movies.

Salo is a gross movie, sure, but the real problem with the movie is how long and boring it is. Which is the problem with the Marquis de Sade's writing as well. He systematizes perversion. Taking sick fetishes and assigning them a routine makes for incredibly dull writing. He was a terrible writer as well.

- I didn't mind Superman Returns. It wasn't great, but it was harmless.
- Brett Ratner isn't that bad. He's mediocre at worst and harmless. People just wanted X-Men 3 to be good but it was going to suck even if Singer stayed. It would just take an extra viewing to notice the core problem was actually the script, not the direction.
- No matter how good a movie is, if it lacks replay value it isn't great. A good movie draws people. A great movie draws people over and over again. Just to clarify, it's not the only indicator to me, and of course different folks, different strokes.
- On a related note, truly bad movies are the nonentertaining ones. "So bad it's good" technically means it's good.
- I haven't seen The Hobbit because it was obviously expanded for the sake of money and I dislike Martin Freeman as an actor.
- Hollywood has a similar, if less pronounced problem as wrestling: where are the stars? Oh sure we have as many good actors as ever, but how many actors have that larger than life quality to them anymore? When the stars of old still do movies, they seem like giants compared to their more modern Co-actors.
- Joss Whedon is overrated as a screenwriter, but I admit he's actually a pretty good director.
- 2001 is one of the single best pieces of cinema ever made (word choice was careful here), but I'll be damned if I need a year or two between every viewing.
