BIG PURCHASE FOR RING OF HONOR PARENT COMPANY

Sinclair Broadcasting, the parent company of Ring of Honor, officially announced its intentions of purchasing Titan Television, which owns a number of TV stations for $115 million.

The purchase would include three Fox affiliates - one in the Fresno/Visalia, CA area, one in in Omaha, NE and one in Sioux City, Iowa as well as a CBS affiliate in Sioux City and two CW affiliates, one in Fresno and in Omaha.

Over the last few years, Sinclair has amassed over 130 stations, making them the largest owner of TV stations in the United States, doubling their stock.

Sinclair purchased ROH two years ago from former owner Cary Silkin. ROH on Sinclair is produced in-house and broadcast via their stations. Once the Titan purchase is complete, those markets will begin to receive ROH TV as well.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR ROH?
Nigel Responds To Corino's Challenge...



Several weeks ago Steve Corino made a challenge to ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness. Simply put: if the ROH team wins, S.C.U.M will disband and Steve will apologize as well as do whatever Nigel wants. If S.C.U.M wins, Corino will take Nigel’s job and become the new Match Maker.

After much consternation over the ramifications of this bout, McGuinness has come to a decision and issued the following statement to ROHWrestling.com:

Ladies and Gentleman I write this today to respond to Steve Corino's recent challenge.

As you may know, Corino has issued a challenge to pit four of ROH's best against four SCUM members with the stipulation that if ROH wins, SCUM will disband, effectively putting an end to Corino's reign forever...BUT...but if SCUM wins Corino takes my job.

Steve Corino has made it no secret what he wants to happen to ROH and in my position he can do virtually anything that he wants. This would no doubt be an ALL IN scenario to cut to the chase.

No doubt this is the biggest risk I could possibly take as Match Maker for Ring of Honor and that is why I have had multiple meetings with numerous people on this very topic to discuss the risk that it entails. By accepting this challenge it could save ROH and purify this company ... or it could officially kill this company that we have loved for the last eleven years.

I said at the start of this that we expected a war, we expected to fight with everything we have in our soul...we expected it to get nastier before it got any better BUT I always knew that no matter how long it would take to overcome this war, ROH and our righteous might would win through to absolute victory.

Many men wiser than myself have said that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's team but with this war there is nothing sweet nor fitting about dying. We must overcome and I have no doubts that honor will be restored once and for all. That being said...

Ring of Honor was born on February 23, 2002 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania inside the Murphy Rec Center.

Ring of Honor will NOT die on June 23rd in Baltimore, Maryland at The Du Burns Arena because...Steve Corino...we ACCEPT this challenge.

June 23rd, 2013...one day after “Best In The World 2013” in Baltimore, Maryland... it will be 4 on 4... ROH vs. SCUM... winner takes all.

This will be the biggest ROH weekend of all time and with everything I believe in my heart... this will not be the last.

We want this to be over. We want to move on. We want a company free of the bullshit that you bring.

First introduced in 2005 at “Steel Cage Warfare” when Generation Next went to war with The Embassy, this bout has only taken place two other times in ROH history and has always turned into a violent affair! This is the biggest bout in the history of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, possibly the most important in ROH history since Daniels vs. Ki. vs. Danielson, because it will determine the future (or lack thereof) of Ring of Honor.

Now the question is who will represent for ROH? Will it be The Wolves? The Briscoes? Adam Cole? Michael Elgin? Jay Lethal? Caprice & Cedric? All those men, plus a slew of others, have reason enough to want a piece of S.C.U.M so Nigel will have certainly have no trouble fielding a team to take on Corino's lot.

...Any action resulting in a disqualification violates the Code of Honor

Those laws, established on February 23, 2002 at the very first Ring of Honor event, were the foundation of the original Code of Honor. They set certain expectation upon the athletes competing inside the ROH ring thus when “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels refused the post-match handshake after his battle with Low Ki & Bryan Danielson at “The Era of Honor Begins” it was taken as a huge sign of disrespect.

In the years that followed ROH's inception the Code was reshaped, remolded, and eventually, as the company evolved, faded away into the history books. Still, there has always been one part of that Code that endures to this day, over eleven years since that first night in South Philly:

...You must shake hands before and after every match

That handshake has become synonymous with Ring of Honor and symbolic of a match fought with integrity and respect for your opponent. Sure there are some for whom the handshake is a sarcastic statement, but by and large it should represent all of the best aspects of ROH. So last Saturday night in San Antonio, when a man who has followed that Code since the day he first stepped in the ROH ring turned his back on Roderick Strong's handshake following a loss, it turned the heads of all those in attendance while those who were only able to read about it questioned just what was going on in Adam Cole's head.

“Adam Cole I have been here a damn long time now.” said Roderick Strong to ROHWrestling.com via e-mail, “I know I've been guilty of spitting on the handshake, hell starting Generation Next was basically the four of us doing just that bro. I've done it, it's been done to me, but generally man, you know when and where someone is going to deny you that respect. So in San Antonio when YOU bailed bro, when you walked away rather than shake my hand, it shocked the hell out of me. That was one I did not see coming. You've been a stand-up dude since the day you got here, I say that despite you being the guy who took my TV Title. I don't know if this is a S.C.U.M thing or what, cause I know Steve Corino has been trying to get you lately, but honestly man, do you want to get on that bandwagon and kill ROH? See I don't call myself Mr. ROH out of ego...that's a lie, it's some ego...but I also say it because up or down, after everything I've been through the last nine years, I would do anything for ROH. So if that's where your head is at Adam, then someone needs to knock some sense back into you and after the way you disrespected me in Texas bro, I am more than happy to be that guy!”

ROHWrestling.com was contacted by Match Maker Nigel McGuinness earlier this morning and he confirmed that on Saturday June 22nd, as part of the “Best in the World 2013” iPPV event, it will be Roderick Strong versus Adam Cole!! These two have fought their hearts out over championships in the past but this one is all about respect and honor!

S.C.U.M Added To Two Title Matches at Best In The World...



This past weekend on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, Steve Corino came to the ring with Jimmy Jacobs, Cliff Compton, and Rhett Titus at his side and ranted against decisions ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness had made recently. Steve complained about Jay Lethal and C&C Wrestle Factory getting title opportunities when they had all recently lost to members of S.C.U.M. Corino complained about Matt Hardy not getting his title opportunity at “Best in the World 2013”, but most importantly, Corino complained about how Nigel laid his hands on Steve at “Border Wars 2013” when Corino got laid out during the Briscoe/Cole World Title Match.

Steve said how he should gave gone to Human Resources, how he should have filed a lawsuit, and how, with a snap of his fingers, Corino could bring it all down before we even get to “BITW” in Baltimore. He told Nigel, who was now flanked by Lethal, Caprice, and Cedric, to do the “right” thing before S.C.U.M burned the company to the ground...

“Whatever it takes to shut Corino's mouth.” said Nigel McGuinness to ROHWrestling.com, “I know what he's doing, I know he's using the system and playing the game, but as much as I hate to admit it, his guys do hold victories over the title contenders. So, at Best in the World 2013 in Baltimore, his three stooges will get their chance...their only chance I hope...to become Ring of Honor champions. Rhett Titus and Cliff Compton will join the World Tag Title match along with Caprice and Cedric and the champions reDRagon. Jimmy Jacobs will get a chance to become TV champion alongside Jay Lethal as they take on Matt Taven in that title match. Two triple threat matches, first pinfall wins, this is your chance Corino, this is what you wanted and you better pray your men win because, if they don't, I will do everything in my power to make sure they never have a chance again. Lethal, Taven, Cedric and Caprice, Kyle and Bobby Fish...I'm looking to all of you to make sure that doesn't happen!”

At “Best in the World 2013”, S.C.U.M will have their chance to claim two pieces of ROH gold as Rhett Titus & Cliff Compton take on Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander and World Tag Team Champions reDRagon in a title bout while Jimmy Jacobs joins the World TV Title match with Jay Lethal and champion Matt Taven! Nigel McGuinness is indeed going “all-in” in Baltimore and between the iPPV and the TV Tapings the next day, the face of ROH could chance completely at The Du Burns Arena!

Jimmy Rave rules so this kind of sucks, but at the same time, I hate to say it, but it's not like they're really giving anyone in SCUM but Matt Hardy, Steve Corino and sometimes Jimmy Jacobs much character development anyways. It hardly felt like Jimmy Rave was even back.

Also I will not be happy if they have SCUM take all the belts. I'd be fine with Jacobs as TV champ, but the thought of Hardy, Titus and Compton as respective World and Tag champs sounds so horrible.

Who will represent ROH & S.C.U.M. in Baltimore?



Announced last week, Match Maker Nigel McGuinness responded to Steve Corino's challenge by not only agreeing to a Four-on-Four match between S.C.U.M and representatives of ROH but he upped the ante on the bout by making the match Steel Cage Warfare!

On June 23d in Baltimore, inside of the cage, four men from S.C.U.M and four men fighting for Ring of Honor will battle it out to determine the future of ROH. If Team ROH wins, Corino and S.C.U.M will cease to be while Steve has agreed to not only apologize but also abide by whatever decisions McGuinness will make BUT if S.C.U.M wins, then Corino takes Nigel's job as matchmaker and gets a power position that will draw him even closer to his goal of decimating Ring of Honor.

Late last night ROHWrestling.com confirmed with both parties just who would represent their respective units at The Du Burns Arena that afternoon and they are:

Representing Ring of Honor:

“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal, BJ Whitmer, and Mark Briscoe/Jay Briscoe (depending on the winner of their “Best in the World 2013” ROH World Title bout)

Representing S.C.U.M:

“Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs, Rhett Titus, Cliff Compton, and “The Man Beast” Rhino

ROHWrestling.com has also learned from a reliable source that upon announcement of the Steel Cage Warfare last week, former S.C.U.M figurehead Kevin Steen immediately approached Nigel looking to represent ROH's team but McGuinness rebuked his offer. When questioned about this, McGuinness simply said he still had no reason to trust Kevin or to think that Steen wasn't still running with Corino and playing some sort of long game.

With everything that's on the line, June 23rd may be the most important date in ROH history since 2/23/02! It's Steel Cage Warfare with ROH vs. S.C.U.M and depending on the how “Best in the World 2013” unfolds the night before, S.C.U.M could very well head into this war with championship belts around the waists of Jacobs, Titus, and Compton! We are still awaiting confirmation on the specific rules of how this battle will be fought but we will bring those to you as soon as ROH officials provide. PAUL LONDON RETURNS!
August cannot come fast enough...



On Saturday night August 3rd, Ring of Honor returns to Toronto and, for the very first time, the best professional wrestling on the planet today will emanate from the original site of the historic Maple Leaf Gardens, now known as the Mattamy Athletic Centre!

Last time we were in Canada it was for the “Border Wars 2013” iPPV event, and that night “The Intrepid Traveler” Paul London made his return to ROH for the first time in ten years! He went toe-to-toe with Davey Richards in what proved to be a must-see contest but unfortunately London suffered a concussion that evening and was forced to sit on the sidelines during the following day's “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings, missing his scheduled bout against “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin.

Well this morning Ring of Honor officials were greeted with some good news via e-mail:

“CLEARED!” the e-mail from London started, “Ready for action asap! Get me back to the scene of the crime so I can make it up to Toronto. If it's Elgin, that'd be awesome but I'll take anyone. Just want to get back into the mix quickly and continue what I started with the Davey match!”

That was all Match Maker Nigel McGuinness needed and now it has been officially set! On Saturday night August 3rd, when ROH returns to Toronto, Paul London WILL be back!!! THE PSYCHOPATH COMETH...
And QT Marshall is in his sights!



At "Boiling Point 2012", "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa suffered an excruciating knee injury during the first fall of his 2/3 Falls bout with Jay Lethal but somehow managed to not only continue the fight, but score the second pin fall and force a third fall in the bout Lethal ultimately won.

That same night coincidentally "God's Gift" QT Marshall earned himself an ROH contract with a victory over Matt Taven, Antonio Thomas, and Vinny Marseglia...

Fast forward to September and "Survival of the Fittest 2012" in Baltimore. That night Ciampa was scheduled to take on Jay Lethal in the Qualifying Round of the tournament but obviously was unable to compete due to his injury. Ever the caring soul, Ciampa's manager RD Evans likened Ciampa to an injured thoroughbred horse that needed to be taken out and shot which led to Marshall making his debut as Evans newest client as he laid out Ciampa.

Ciampa's presence was not physically seen during the next few months but, ever the workhorse, Tommaso would post videos and tweets updating the world on the status of his rehabilitation, leading to a surprising, albeit preemptive, return at "Final Battle 2012" where he attempted to go after Evans & Marshall but was held back by security.

Months passed, then at "Border Wars 2013", as Evans and Marshall stood in the middle of the ring and ran their mouths, the music and lights hit, the ROH video screen came to life, and out came "The Sicilian Psychopath" looking better than ever! He took QT down, went to nail that vicious running knee, but RD saved his man from a further beating...for the moment. The respite did not last long as on the 6/1 edition of ROH TV, Ciampa laid out QT with an Air Raid Crash on the ramp and Evans with a Project Ciampa in the ring!

"Egregious!" said RD Evans, "That was an unprovoked assault on myself and my client slash tag team partner! I want retribution, I want comeuppance, I want Nigel McGuinness to make things right and give Tommaso Ciampa what he deserves, give myself and QT Marshall what we deserve!"

This past weekend on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, Steve Corino came to the ring with Jimmy Jacobs, Cliff Compton, and Rhett Titus at his side and ranted against decisions ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness had made recently. Steve complained about Jay Lethal and C&C Wrestle Factory getting title opportunities when they had all recently lost to members of S.C.U.M. The complaining has been consistent so Nigel decided to give them their only chance to become Ring of Honor champions. Rhett Titus and Cliff Compton will join the World Tag Title match along with Caprice and Cedric and the champions, reDRagon. Jimmy Jacobs will get a chance to become TV champion alongside Jay Lethal as they take on Matt Taven in the TV title match. The face of ROH could chance completely at The Du Burns Arena!

- After Roderick Strong's match with "God's Gift" QT Marshall last Saturday, Adam Cole came out to apologize to Strong for not shaking his hand after their match in Texas. Cole blamed it on frustration and admitted that Strong was the better man that night. Cole then offered his hand and Strong accepted. These two men have fought it out over championships in the past but at “Best in the World 2013” it is all about respect and honor.
