But if Apple Cobbler gets eliminated, Apple Fritter will be sad.

20 laps in the books, and Soarin' has led all the way. He leads from Filthy Rich and Fancypants.

10/10, and I'm dead serious on this one.
Unlike the last CMC episode that was just voted on, I actually like the way the CMCs are portrayed here. Yeah, they are holding the idiot ball firmly, but they are still determined to put on a concert on their own. I actually admire their tenacity and their desire to make an impact on the world, yet find the way their lack of maturity and self-actualization holds them back rather entertaining. That is what I love about the Crusaders in general, and before Hearts and Hooves Day came around, I thought this episode was the best portrayal of the group by a country mile. Throw in a hilarious Spinal Tap-sequence song and the Cutie Mark Montage (which is the most underrated moment in the entire show), and I can overlook the episode's long-talked about flaws because I enjoy literally everything else in Show Stoppers.
Seriously, why does no one ever mention the Cutie Mark Montage? They get chased by a squid and assaulted by a card game, with that beautiful instrumental that was later used as Pinkie's party music.
(Note: this was written under the influence of Ambien and NyQuil, in bed on my tablet. If it sounds overly defensive, there ya go.)

Bit of a sausage fest in the Top 3 But considering Blokes are better drivers anyway no major surprise

50 laps down, and Soarin' and Filthy Rich are still your Top 2, but Sparkler now sits in third.

I really like Show Stoppers. Of the two CMC episodes in Season 1, I much prefer it over Stare Master (Call of the Cutie is an AB episode, and I consider Chronicles a Mane 6 story with the CMC as a framing device).
As I've said before in defense of this episode the 'idiot ball' things really doesn't bother me at all, and the reason for that is that I actually find it more realistic. Kids can be idiots. And a lot of the time they don't see what's right in front of them. I've spent a lot of time with the younger members of my family (and I've a LOT of family) and kids at that age really don't see that kind of stuff. I've a cousin who's excellent at singing yet for the longest time she refused, outright refused, to sing in front of people. In the next room where she thought people couldn't hear her, fine, but she absolutely wouldn't do it if she thought someone could hear her.
But as far as the actual episode content, there's a lot of stuff in it that I like, such as the montage of them trying to get their marks (always laugh at the 'mountain' climbing), AJ's increasing confusion of the CMC's antics, Scootaloo on the piano. And I love the song, pure 80's rock cheese performed wonderfully terribly.
Also following up on what Screwberry said, I love the music used in the CMC montage. So much that I used it as a backing track for one of my final presentations in college.

So far all is peaceful But no doubt that will change When they all take each other out and Lyra and Fluttershy come skipping through to take the 1-2

75 laps in, and Soarin' and Sparkler are dueling for the lead. Filthy Rich now in third.

Tragedy for Soarin'... he's lost the gearbox and has had to retire from second place. He's gonna need one hell of a pie to get over this.
100 laps of 500 done, and Sparkler now has a decent gap over Lightning Bolt and Cherry Berry.

Sparkler surely will hurl some snark remarks at the other drivers.
