He really gives no damns anymore, lol. The 'heel turn' burn, the smugness after he tried the Peoples Elbow again last night, almost every promo he cuts nowadays. Haters will hate, Cena kids will wear Cena gear.
He's equipped for every crowd.

It's actually the best argument for a heel turn, even more so than those who say he's stale. He's just so damn good at manipulating crowds. He was pitch-perfect at the start of the show, and loved his little Fandango-esque dance near the end.

I still say that not turning heel is the most heel thing Cena can do.

The heel turn got a laugh out of me. Far from the last laugh of the night, but still, Cena deserves credit on that one.

Far from being a troll, it looked like Cena just decided to go with the flow and improvise. The only reversion back to typical Cena was the bad breath joke. Other than that, it seems like he knew the vibe of the crowd and just rolled with it and by doing so, became more entertaining.

I still say that not turning heel is the most heel thing Cena can do. Agreed. This might actually be the best of both worlds for the WWE. Kids love him. Adults hate him. He goes out and takes money from both. Not literally of course. Taking 20 dollar bills from small children would be a heel move. Although one could philosophically argue that he did take 20 dollars from the child's parents for buying those Cena shirts.

I'd rather him be a smug trolling face over the garbage he does otherwise. If he's not going to turn heel, then I'd rather him embrace the shit the crowd throws at him. Who knows...maybe they'll start cheering him for it.

I loved it. set the tone for the rest of the show. easily the best Cena promo we've gotten in ages. it's kinda sad how Cena's the only one who knows how to work a hostile crowd, though. Sheamus and Orton just looked LOST out there.

He was pitch-perfect at the start of the show, and loved his little Fandango-esque dance near the end. getting to crowds is not manipulating crowds. The adults are getting pissed off and the kids are maybe getting a laugh from that so bot groups are feeling what they would be feeling a little bit stronger, but they're still feeling what they would be anyway. Honestly, the whole heel turn to freshen up, and presumably then be cheered just seems so weak to me. I like Cena and I can get behind a guy who likes kids, especially if it means acting like he doesn't want to. The choice between playing a character that appeals to people who already like him and is apparently close to his real personality versus playing a more fictional character to appeal to people who screwed with him for years seems a no brainer to me. Fans in WWE have put Cena into an after school special situation and want him to choose the wrong ending

That "heel turn" line totally caught me offguard and reminded why I love the guy so much, even with his stale character.

Him yelling out "The champ is hEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEE" is so much more heelish than it was when he first started.

John Cena's a heel. Not the heel we deserved but the heel we needed. Nothing less than a champ. Shining.

John Cena's a heel. Not the heel we deserved but the heel we needed. Nothing less than a champ. Shining. This. How anyone can see him as anything but a heel right now is amazing. Yes, he still has fans, he's the current face of the company, but he's definitely a heel. More people want to see him lose the title than not = heel.

Fans in WWE have put Cena into an after school special situation and want him to choose the wrong ending Children are too stupid to know or enjoy that adults are getting trolled. They'd likely not understand it. All they know or care about is that Cena is strong and wins all the time. It's the same formula that drove me as a kid to like Hogan or Warrior before I realized that Mr. Perfect and Randy Savage were much more interesting. And to say that we want Cena to choose the "wrong ending" implies that your view that he's right and just is absolute. Some people want him to turn because he's irritating in his current incarnation and by being a heel, hopefully with the same attributes and booking, we can at least count on the fact that eventually he'll get his comeuppance. That's what drove last year's Rock match.
