What were some Superhero movies that were announced as happening, but ended up in development hell. There were plans to make a Captain Marvel (The DC comics one) movie, and they even cast Rock as Black Adam, but i havent heard anything since that casting.

The infamous Kevin Smith written Superman movie from the late 90s that would have had Nic Cage as Supes. I hear there's a documentary coming out soon about it.

The two biggest I know of are X-Men Origins: Magneto and Deadpool. Both were rumored to be on the horizon right about when X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out, but nothing has come of either one.

Batman Triumphant
If Batman and Robin hadn't been a disaster there would of been a third Joel Schumacher batman film and rumor has it at one time Bret freaking Hart was considered to play Batman.
One must wonder how much nuclear grade cocaine the person who suggested this shoved up their nose because seriously eh wtf.

One must wonder how much nuclear grade cocaine the person who suggested that idea took before the meeting. I wish I had never heard about Bret "the Batman" Hart, because now I'm so, so sad that it didn't happen.

The Magneto film evolved into First Class, but they kept a ton of the ideas for Magneto in the film. Deadpool can't get made because, according to Ryan Reynolds and the scriptwriters, Fox is scared to take a chance on the film because they're stuck in the mindset that Deadpool is a superhero and needs to be PG-13, and the script is a hard R.

It would have A-bombed the franchise and made the Nolanverse a lot less likely, but damn if it wouldn't have been something very fascinating.

Super hero characters like Deadpool, Punisher, Cable, and even Wolverine himself should all probably be rated R characters. Sometimes it feels like Hollywood knows people love super hero movies, that a good number of super heroes are grim and gritty, yet still believes all super heroes should be for little dumb kids and be like Adam West Batman. (Not that Adam West Batman is dumb, but trying to make violent characters like Deadpool or the Authority fit that mold is just stupid and ludicrous.)

The JJ Abrams Superman abomination. Ah yes, "Superman the Kryptonian Kung Fu-Fighting Prince", co starring Jimmy Olsen as a catty New Yorker and Lex Luthor as a Kryptonian in disguise.

They see Deadpool as a costume, and they see the costume as toy sales. I honestly think they could make Deadpool PG-13 by doing clever stuff to censor the violence and language, and they could do it all in a completely tongue-in-cheek way, but they shouldn't have to.

Dr Strange who has been on and off since atleast the early 2000s and now seemingly is rumored to finally come to fruition as part of Marvels Phase 3.
Another one is Spawn 2 which I would have loved to have seen because honestly the first is a guilty pleasure of mine and also because the sequel was already being set up with Angelas cameo in the first.

Green Lantern starring Jack Black. At least the film we got somewhat resembled a comic movie, this abomination was meant to be a comedy utilizing Black's humor.

Where Krypton doesn't explode, yet there's still Kryptonite, and Jor-El commits suicide to bring his son back to life, and they meet in Kryptonian heaven.

Tim Burton was another guy being lined-up for Warner's radical reboot of Superman that fortunately fell through. You knew it was bad when DC made no secret of the fact that they didn't want the movie made. Funny thing is that much-maligned Michael Bay wanted nothing to do with the project.
