I'm not gonna lie, it feels weird as hell to say that the Memphis Grizzlies are in the Western Conference Finals. OKC had a chance, but Durant just couldn't deliver tonight. I'm hoping to see Memphis in the Finals to stir things up, but I'd be fine with San Antonio too.

And KD whiffs again. For a guy who was pretty much clutch all season long, once the playoffs started it was like he forgot how to be clutch. He's sucked in the 4th in pretty much every game since Russ went down. Not clutch in the 4th? Huh...

I can't believe a team from Hickville USA is going to the conference finals.

It can't be avoided. Durant & the Thunder choked. Not really. Durant pretty much had to carry the team by himself mostly for the last 9 games. That's going to wear on anyone. Now has KD sucked in the 4th? Yeah, he has, but by the time the 4th rolls around he has almost nothing left. You can't really "choke" when your team doesn't have one of its star players. I mean I think we all kind of thought the Thunder weren't making it out of the West without Westbrook.

Still, congrats Grizzlies, first trip to the Conference Finals in franchise history, and if they draw the Spurs, they have a really good shot of turning that into their first trip to the Finals as well.
Screw it, I'm on the Grizzlies' bandwagon the rest of the season, and if they fall, I'm backing whoever comes out of the West, especially if Miami comes out of the East.

Maybe Durant struggled because he can't be expected to do every single thing. Perkins in this series had more fouls than points/rebounds/assists combined. And Derek Fisher sure is Derek Fisher.
This entire team was built around the idea of Westbrook and Durant playing off each other.

@vgoodwill This makes seven conference finals for Tayshaun Prince. Tim Duncan has 7 Kobe Bryant has 8.

Brooks just isn't a good enough coach to adapt on the fly, and no one on the bench could step up and replace Westbrook's production. And whether it's fair or not, this series made that Harden trade look even worse in hindsight.

This entire team was built around the idea of Westbrook and Durant playing off each other. Exactly. He's too young to be expected to do everything. Give him a few more years and yeah, he should be able to do that, but right now? Nah, that's too early. As for Fisher, I dunno what happened, he was playing lights out against Houston........ And I already said Perkins needs to go. Funny how pretty much everyone thought OKC got the better end of the Green/Perkins trade when it happened, but now only a few seasons removed and Boston got the better end of the deal. Green's emerged as a much better player and unless they get rid of him should be a core piece of the Celtics as they begin planning for life after Pierce and Garnett.

If you want something to remind you how scary good they are both Durant and Westbrook are younger than Steph Curry.

If OKC is willing to take on capspace, I think they oughta give Brooklyn a call and make an offer for Gerald Wallace.
He can rebound and can hit 3's

What a great night! I hung out with a ton of city officials and a few national nba writers. It was truly magical in Sacramento tonight and I'm glad I got to experience it!

They've talked about it on Mike & Mike, and it's correct, Durant is getting a pass for his performance against the Grizzlies. People are saying he had no help, he had to do it all, not great coaching, and one guy can't do it all. Yet, people were ripping LeBron for not winning a title with Cleveland, with a far worse supporting cast, and worse coach.
I agree that Durant can't do it all, just like LeBron couldn't do it all in Cleveland. But Durant has gotten a free pass.
I wonder who's going to coach the Thunder after Brooks gets fired. Hell, 2 of the top teams in the West will be looking for new coaches. Brooks and Vinny Del Negro won't be back.
