The Bella hate on this forum has approached and exceeded ridiculous levels. There are plenty of reasons why they are perfect choices to be the lead characters in this show, and I guarantee it won't be cancelled after two or three episodes like some of you are ridiculously claiming. If you're not interested, that's fine, but don't generalise completely inaccurately. They're poor workers, never had a memorable match, and have never been over with live crowds, but are getting their own TV show and regular TV time. Yep, totally ridiculous. This reality show is not about the ability of a worker, it's a classic reality that follows some celebrity around through their 'private' life. Bellas have mainstream appeal, they date fellow wrestlers, just like Nattie. It will probably show how they balance work, travel and their love lifes, not Nattie's Sharpshooter style and execution. I'm sure that everyone watching this show will whine about workrate? No? Shocker, workrate is irrelevant on an E! Show. Wrestling ability for most part is irrelavant on Raw and SD as well. The hate is hilarious.

What "mainstream appeal?" How many casual fans over the age of 12 actually care about them? This show's not about workrate, but isn't the entire point of employing wrestlers for them to wrestle? Assuming they should be on this show at all assumes that they have a place on the roster. Why are they even on the roster to begin with if they can't work and the fans don't care about them?

YEAH! Right on dude! It's just "hate" when you have a problem with unqualified slobs getting chance after chance when people who've busted their asses for years to even get a shot at working a match--and have more than enough talent and popularity to be valuable roster additions--are held down, fired, or denied employment opportunities. The Bellas are something of scapegoats, but they're also indicative of the serious structural problems within WWE.

So, is it safe to call the Bellas the 21st Century Sable?
My question is, what can the Bellas offer me, or any viewer in terms of entertainment that doesn't involve seeking out a box of tissues? As far as I can tell, absolutely nothing. There's been nothing interesting I can tell about their "private life" other than they're dating the two best wrestlers in the world and I can't see them pulling together anything out of that. Not to mention, I'm sure it's going to be used to further storylines in the ring that the WWE has conditioned me to not give a single damn about.
Pass.

Please continue venting about an show that will air on E!, you're awesome. There's no different opinion on wrestlers than yours, so I won't try to argue any further. (Unrelated thought I just had - "I'll go quickly on YouTube and just watch a few dozen matches from Japan and admire workrate. Everyone hates Bellas, everyone loves Pachushaka Takumishiszawisha. I wish she had a reality, she deserves it.")

The American public, once again, barely cares about any wrestler PERIOD that isn't The Rock. For the record, there are plenty of ladies in SHIMMER that I would love to see a show about.

Not only is this extraordinarily condescending, and not only did you just create a really bad straw man, but you're also missing the point of so many people's anger. People don't "hate" the Bellas. If people hated them, that would be great, because then they'd have heel heat. But they don't. They don't care about them. As for what constitutes a good wrestling match, sure, that's opinion, but crowd reactions? Go watch videos of them on Youtube. Do crowds respond to the Bellas? Ever? People are angry that the Bellas--who have contributed nothing apparent to the company--are given opportunity after opportunity and continually pushed on the fans despite the fact that hardly anyone cares about them. As for the straw man. Not only does this discussion have nothing to do with Japan, but your example is a total fabrication with no context.

Exactly. E! and TruTV are in a race to the bottom for most despicable tv program. Just E! and TruTV? Ever see some of the stuff that gets aired on TLC? Anyways, pass. Just more TV time wasted on the Bellas. It'll be mercy killed within a month. My bad. I just blanked trying to remember awful reality shows. TLC is up there if not the leader.

The Divas reality show on E! is targeting female viewers who don't typically watch WWE programming. I think the Bellas could easily appeal to the same women who love watching the Kardashians.

Ultimately it's a show that has little to do with wrestling and isn't being aimed at the traditional wrestling audience.
In that respect, does it really matter that it's the Bella Twins starring and not Natalya and Beth? It just seems a bit like complaining that they put Brodus in a movie and not Cesaro. Will it amount to anything in the long run? Probably not.

Is it really hate for me to speculate that when the people who make up E!'s audience see a show about wrestlers they won't be into it?

Did you guys see that WWE App video with AJ from Raw. AJ does her in-ring interview, Kaitlyn comes out and gets a solid reaction from the fans, immediately the Bellas come out and literally get no reaction at all. Why WWE continue to push them is beyond me. I could understand why Kelly got pushed since she was over and popular with the fans. But the Bellas? I don't watch anymore but that doesn't surprise me one bit. And before anyone plays the "Sexism!" card, we did this with Drew McIntyre too. Every match was PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH. His promos were lame. His feuds weren't much better. And we were supposed to think he was the "Chosen One." Eventually the mods put a moratorium on D-Mac hate threads, they were that common. The Bella Twins are more than decent wrestlers and have had plenty of good matches. Drew McIntyre is also a very good wrestler, and if you think his matches were just punches then there's really not that much point arguing with you because you're obviously in an alternate universe.
