On one hand, that looks amazing, on the other, it looks like it might be yet another "focus on the humans by the way there's a monster that has 3 minutes of footage" flick. I doubt it, because apparently Godzilla is going to be fighting against other monsters in this movie. My hope is they focus on the military involvement in the trailers leading up the release... have the first part of the movie be Godzilla vs. the Military, then introduce a big-ass kaiju that Godzilla ends up fighting for the second part while humanity has no choice but to watch the carnage. Then afterward, Godzilla simply goes back to the water to heal. He didn't save humanity, humanity didn't win, it just gets to live another day.

Needs more Megalon Awesome, where are my tickets? Just imagine how much better that trailer would play with a P. Diddy cover of "Kashmir" rocking in the background. Actually Led Zeppelin's original version works very well to that trailer, played it in the background.

I WANT IT AND I WANT IT RIGHT f***ING NOW.
I love me some destruction, the tone for this is GREAT. If anyone here hasn't seen Monsters, Gareth Edward's first film then go do that, if he carries that tone and that humanity through WHILE now having a shitload of money - we're in for a treat.
Hands down the film I'm most psyched for in 2014

I actually just sat down and recently watched the trailer. The train images with the corpses and the way the sky was shot was unnerving. With Godzilla 98's trailer and actual movie, it triggered a feeling of "yay Zilla, squash those lame ass humans", but Godzilla may have gotten some heel heat from me here.

I need some recommendations of Godzilla movies to seek out.
I have ordered a copy of the BFI release of the original 1954 movie on DVD and am waiting for that to arrive. I recently downloaded Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and watched that based off watching BBC2's "Monster Night" back in '98, and that film was part of the evening. Thoroughly enjoyed that. I would like suggestions of what else to check out next.

Just my humble opinion (and I'm a huge Godzilla fan) Godzilla vs King Kong Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster Destroy All Monsters Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla Terror of Mechagodzilla Godzilla 1985 Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) All The Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla movies (two I mentioned, the 93 movie, Against, and Tokyo SOS) Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Final Wars Really any of the movies are good. Though Son of Godzilla, Smog Monster, Godzilla's Revenge, Seamonster, Megalon, and Gigan are all pretty corny. I also have a soft spot for Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla but the movie isn't that great.

Other than the original, my favorites are:
The "trilogy" of "Mothra vs. Godzilla", "Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster", and "Invasion of Astro-Monster". Lots of fun 60's sci-fi, and shows how Godzilla became a good guy. There's also the original Mothra movie, which takes place before Mothra vs. Godzilla, but I haven't seen that in a long time.
The 80's movies have relatively tight continuity between them so if you only watch some, you'll probably encounter a scene or two of "Wait, what are they talking about, and who's that character?" Although, I'd say that Biollante and Destoroyah are my two favorites there.
Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is just plain awesome.
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and its direct sequel Tokyo S.O.S. are okay. Tokyo S.O.S. is also a direct sequel to Mothra, with one of the main characters from that movie appearing as an old man.
Final Wars is a fitting 50th anniversary. The human good guys are a bit boring (other than Don Frye), but there's a lot of monster fighting and a gloriously hammy bad guy.

He's gotta be CGI. No way will they try a rubber suit for something like this. They might do a bit of both. Like how for Jurassic Park and Walking with Dinosaurs they did CGI for the big action stuff but animatronics for close-ups. Even Toho Godzilla movies have used digital effects to enhance some scenes.

If that's supposed to be the Trans America Pyramid Tower to the right, that's about 850ft tall... so is Godzilla really going to be like a quarter mile tall or is this just an artist making something look cool.

There's also the original Mothra movie, which takes place before Mothra vs. Godzilla, but I haven't seen that in a long time. I absolutely love those, "Mothra vs. Godzilla" in particular is a pretty fun one. It's got one of the best (IMO) Godzilla designs and the fight between him and Mothra in the middle of the movie is a notable highlight. I'd second all of these suggestions, and would also add the original "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla".

I love the look and the atmosphere of that poster. From the looks of the visualization it just has a frightening, dark, and unknown vibe to it that just sends chills down your spine.
