The old classic. ![](http://i50.tinypic.com/2h72hrl.jpg) Any time people try to argue that the single-brand PPVs were a good idea, I use this match as an example as to why they are wrong. Once you start putting f***ing Luther Reigns on PPV, you know the bottom of the barrel is being scraped. I tend to look more towards The Great American Bash revival in 2004, where Mordecai vs. Hardcore Holly and Kenzo Suzuki vs. Billy Gunn were considered PPV-worthy match-ups.

Luther Reigns was actually showing dividends just before he was turfed out; his later mic-work showed a fire and quiet intensity that seems to be reserved for/the domain of today's upper-echelon.

I loved the buildup for both of those matches, which was just two guys fighting in the back for no reason. The Torrie Wilson vs. Sable match had more buildup, as it was set after Sable said Torrie looked fat in her outfit.

Like, seriously, can you not find a better opponent for the f***ing Undertaker?!

That's all fine and good, but is Luther Reigns really the guy to put him against to boost a buyrate?

First one that comes to mind is Mongo vs. Joe Gomez that was like 10 minutes.

And NXT continues it's reign of having better match graphics than main roster. The white noise motif is so simple but so much more effective than the current era of main roster weekly/PPV match graphic examples. This and the Arrival graphics are better than Mania's in my opinion as that was a huge letdown (but not as good as the great Summerslam ones from last year). I also love how NXT is doing the full rundown hardsell graphics/theme/commentators hard selling the card combionation which main roster hasn't used for years (outside of Mania). I have said it before, but it is such a great and badass way to get people HYPED! (/MOJO) for an event both as a whole and as individual matches. It's the combination of all the elements together (in commentators/theme/graphics) that makes it so easy to get excited. ![](http://static.dyp.im/rKtF1Wi8Uz/953ec5560f85bc33b4f9828e6f8472fa.gif) ![](http://static.dyp.im/c5QH5F64Tt/0d7d9bc7c6acfdf9eefdd77f10aef426.gif) Kalisto with dat attire!!!!!

Flair looks like he's welcoming you to a casino. Shamrock looks like he had a night of romance planned with his wife and someone knocked on the door right before they went upstairs.
