I really think I am. And it doesn't feel good. Wrestling used to be able to be the one thing that could pick me up out of the dumps. But now, it seems almost like a chore. First it was just with WWE. With the exception of two or three hours of random TV shows, the last new piece of WWE programming I watched was Survivor Series. Partly because I was busy, partly because I just don't care. But now it has crossed over into my liking of other professional wrestling companies. I still have ROH dvds I bought in November that I haven't watched and this past sale seemed to be the first I had no interest in at all. I feel if this continues, I may never be a wrestling fan again.

CHIKARA single-handedly saved my love of wrestling. And I am not joking.

Yup, sometimes I have no clue why I'm watching pro wrestling besides to discuss it here.
Really sorta sad

CHIKARA single-handedly saved my love of wrestling. And I am not joking. Normally, I would be willing to do this. ROH did the same thing for me two summers ago, but now it seems ROH can't even help, even with them growing leaps and bounds since I first started watching. I am not really in the mood to spend money on wrestling at all, so unless you find some good, dirt-cheap, CHIKARA, I guess I am destined to become a non-fan

Usually, when faced with this dilemma then, it's a good idea to take a year off from it. But be warned: I did that with comics once because of my financial situation, and I haven't been able to pick up a series regularly since.

I had that too and I took a break. And I used to buy every WWF-tape and right now I have a very nice collection of In Your House ppv's with at times only 5 or 6 matches on it.
Right now I only buy the dvd's of the big events like Wrestlemania and the Royal Rumble and the dvd's of wrestlers like Benoit and Guerrero.
So go ahead and take your break. After a while you'll get curious again. You'll buy a dvd or watch a match that will once again bring back the interest.

Join an e-fed and write your own stories. What the heck is Chikara? I'm in 3 e-feds. And CHIKARA is a comedy based Indy company based in Philly. And the thing I about taking a break, wrestling has been my life since the 5th grade(I'm midway through 11th now). Without it, I don't know what I'd do.

A) Don't be afraid to embrace other hobbies and interests.
B) Take some time off. I was feeling pretty burnt out a few months ago, so I started paying less attention, even went quite a long time without buying any ROH DVD's, but, since the last show in Edison, I've found myself buying up shows again with a rediscovered fervor.
Just take a little while to get a breather.

I think any hardcore long time fan starts to get burned out. I was watching since I was very young, and in 2003 I had finally had enough and stopped watching wrestling period. Raw being as awful as it was that year was part of it, but I just didn't like anything I was seeing anymore.
So I stopped for a year, came back right before Mania 20, and after Benoit won the title I became enthused about wrestling again.
This summer it happened again where I didn't want to watch any of it. Cena was killing my love for wrestling, DX was, and just the general landscape of WWE in general.
Then I discovered ROH, CZW, PWG, and the rest of the indy scene and I haven't been this excited about wrestling in years.

I've burned out a number of times. I'm 22, in my first year out of college. I got burned out when I was about 11 (1995-96 - go figure!). I picked it back up in high school early on, but it kind of waned as the years went by, since none of those friends were big fans. Then I got burned out after senior year of high school and didn't watch most anything for a solid 2 years. Then I started watching WWE TV again about 18 months ago. I was starting to lose interest again in the WWE, but found TNA more accessible and interesting. From there I saw Daniels and Joe, and the arrival in the E of Punk...that all led me to ROH in the last few months, and I'm addicted.
I think part of it is that now it's as much research as entertainment. When I first started, it was "real." And the novelty wore off a few years later. I grew in and out of it, looking for different things. Figure out why you watched it when you loved it, how it worked at different times. I mean, I loved the Bret/Owen feud and the Undertaker as a kid. Then I came back in for the Attitude era in full swing, and it was real awesome as a kid entering adolescence. But by the time I was leaving hs, the invasion had petered out and it didn't hold my attention.
this last time i came back in...i don't know why. i just needed it at the time. 04-05 wasn't the best of times, but it was there. and now the ROH i'm watching, especially the early days, gives me something to research since i'm seriosuly working towards getting into the business in the near future.
maybe you'll fall in with some guys who are fans. maybe it won't be for 5 years until you have a kid and watch it with him. and then you talk about the good old days of Cena-Umaga. Maybe some chick'll draw you back in. and wouldn't that f***in' rock. give it a rest. almost all of us have. you'll be back.

I burned out when Hogan left, he was one of the reasons i got into wrestling and I left with him,now I've not really been impressed with RAW(The only show that's currently on that I ever really watched) save for one performer(see my sig) But I do find that I do enjoy the old stuff from when I first started, so I'll always be a fan even if I just watch the old stuff-I hope you stick around here whatever you decide-this is more fun for me than actually watching the current product and I learn all the important news from here so that's partially why i don't watch anymore(that and I think it sucks and has sucked for the past little while)

I hear ya. I got tired of wrestling too for a while from mid 1995 to early 1996 I didn't watch anything wrestling but then I started to get into WCW and the NWO and WWF with Stone Cold Steve Austin and of course ECW and I got interested again.

Here man I'm feeling the same, I feel interested in wrestling still, but I'm just not watching any of the products as of late. Not watched a RAW, iMpact, SD, ECW, or anything that the UK has to offer me in the past month, well thats kinda a lie I watched half of an impact but it was an old one.
But I still love wrestling but for some reason I'm just not watching it, its weird.

Wrestling is always boring during down periods. There's really nothing going on, and companies are just trying to get by hoping for a Dwayne Johnson to develop right before their eyes.
I stopped watching the WWE a year ago (after Rey won the Rumble and dedicated everything from his matches to his bowel movements to Eddie). I absolutely hate the way TNA is being run (seriously, 3 Angle/Joe matches in 3 months? Give me a break) so I don't watch that either. I read results and/or spoilers, but that's it.
Take a break. A long break.

The way both of you feel is exactlly how I feel much of the time. I don't think I've watched more than six shows beginning to end from any company in the last 4 years or so. I watched this years Rumble, the 2 One Night Stand's and the last 3 Wrestlemania's, and that was it. Every time I try to give something else a chance (WWE and TNA specificly) I get an overwhelming urge to change the channel or turn on a video game. The only thing that's been able to keep my attention lately is Kaiju Big Battle . I wouldn't say I'm burnt out though, as I still love to watch my DVD's and tapes as well as look up old stuff on You Tube and what not.

I continually go in phases so I can understand. There's times where I'll only watch wrestling pay-per-views where I meet with friends, have big cookouts, play video games and barely pay attention to what's going on. Then I'll want to watch as much wrestling as I can for a little while until I go into the aforementioned phase. I don't know who you watch wrestling with, but I always find wrestling enjoyable when I'm with a big group of people - making an event out of it so to speak.

To be honest, every year I go off wrestling for about 2 months, usally from Wrestlemania to about Summerslam, and only watching the PPVS and checking out the results over the net during this period.
I think it's why I still enjoy wrestling as much as I do
