Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Mike Schmidt, and Willie Mays cheated (took greenies), Babe Ruth cheated (corked bats, and it's believed he injected himself with animal hormones), Gaylord Perry and Whitey Ford cheated (doctored the ball), Ty Cobb cheated (sharpened spikes on his cleats), and countless others in the Hall of Fame. They're in the Hall of Fame, meanwhile A-Rod is going to be banned for life? Why is A-Rod's cheating worse, and the cheating of those guys not bad? Bob Gibson admits there was cheating going on when he played, and admits he'd probably take steroids today. Baseball profited off of PEDs. Look at 1998, baseball reaped the benefits of PEDs, knew what was going on but didn't say a damn thing. It's not protecting the "integrity" of baseball, because the integrity of baseball went out the window a long time ago. Cheaters have always been around, cheaters have been celebrated, and cheaters are still around. So because they've been around forever, they shouldn't be punished now when they're caught? A-Rod broke the rules, he gets what he deserves. And if cheaters are caught in the future, they should be punished. All that other shit is irrelevant. Judging by what MLB claims, they have evidence he also interfered in their investigation, which would be a much bigger problem

I don't know of another player that is of Matt Holliday's level that goobers up things so often (sliding across home on his face, trying to catch a flyball in the playoffs with his wiener, knocking flyballs over the wall for homeruns that should've been caught.) When he's hot you can't get him out, but sometimes I just wish he would go away.

A friend of mine agreed with me while we were both watching an ad for a Holliday jersey that gave people "super strength" in the spot. I commented that it'd also give you the power to hit into double plays in crucial game-defining moments.

I want to know who called on Papa Shango to cast a voodoo spell on the Cardinals, I mean nothing, NOT ONE THING, has gone right on this roadtrip. I just watched 7 hours of some of the crappiest baseball I've ever seen.

I remember everyone telling me how much trouble the Braves were in when Hudson went down and I kept telling them that they're good enough to work through that and they thought I was nuts.
Granted, it was Colorado the past couple of days but with all the problems with the DL they've had this year, it just makes me very optimistic for the future that they still have one of the best records in Baseball and, I believe, the largest division lead in the league. It's pretty encouraging.
Just hope they can clear up the issues they have now and make sure nobody goes out for the rest of the season like Tim Hudson did.
I just hope I'm not hyping myself up for another disappointing postseason. I've endured enough of those as a fan.

Losing both games of a DH, at home, to the Brewers. Yuck.
CM Punk was there and he didn't look pleased.

Iglesias seems to be the name floating around for Peavy. EDIT: No Jackie Bradley Jr in the trade, Tigers also may be involved with Iglesias going to the Tigers Nice trade for Boston. White Sox get Avisal Garcia from Tigers + 3 low level prospects from Boston.

Can't say I'm overly thrilled about the White Sox's centerpiece being yet another outfield prospect. In fact, I made that exact joke to someone at The Cell during Peavy's last start about trading him for another outfielder. Betweem Trayce Thompson, Courtney Hawkins, Keenyn Walker, Jacob May, and now Avisail Garcia...that's a lot in the outfield. Garcia may get a look this year, though. He's been destroying AAA lately. It'd be nice to see him get a long look to finish, but there's a $15 million cockblocker in right field. I'm still hopeful, but Rios is probably sticking around after the foul ball off the foot tonight.

I like this trade for a lot of reasons.
1. Obviously Peavy should help solidify the rotation until Buchholz returns. Plus he's signed through next year which means they're not just paying for a two month rental. Obviously he'll need to stay healthy but it's still worth the risk.
2. This allows the Sox to move Brandon Workman to the bullpen. Workman's been great in the rotation so far but I think he'll be more useful coming out of the pen, filling a number of roles similar to Justin Masterson did in 2008 or Alfredo Aceves in 2011.
3. We managed to acquire the top pitcher on the market (if Cliff Lee's not traded) while keeping most of our top prosects.
4. Iglesias might be the best defensive SS in baseball right now but he's not a .300 hitter. He just was on an extreme hot streak and recently had been crashing down to earth. Going forward he'll most likely be in the .250 - .270 range. I still like him but with Will Middlebrooks, Xander Bogaerts, Garin Cecchini, Deven Marrero & Michael Almanzar in the system there's no shortage of infielders.
5. Speaking of Bogaerts, the move might clear the way for him to make his big league debut.

The baseball gods bent over backwards for the Giants last year. Plain and simple.
They can't do a damn thing right this year.
If not for Scott Rolen and Brooks Conrad NLDS game 3 errors, Giants fans might still be 0-for-1954.

That is SUCH a baseball player name Almost as great as Stubby Clapp What, no love for Rusty Kuntz? Also, got to say that I really like this trade for the Tigers. Yeah, losing Avisail kinda sucks, but the Tigers have decent outfield depth at the majors with what we have, and we also have Castellanos down in Toledo who looks to be ready. Even with his recent struggles, Iglesias gives us solid defense in the infield that we desperately needed, and nice speed on the basepaths (another thing the Tigers lacked). Also, it gives us our shortstop not only for the present (this really makes it seem like Peralta is getting suspended), but also for years to come. Also, any trade that gets rid of a crappy reliever is a plus for me (now watch as Villarreal does well with Boston).

Lot of talk about Michael Young being traded to the Yankees.
Considering how 3B's performed this year and who knows what's going to happen with A-Rod, I'm ok with this as long as the Phils don't ask for any top prospects.

Speaking of Bogaerts, the move might clear the way for him to make his big league debut. Aside from this trade opening the door for "Stephen Drew: Everyday Shortstop", I'm 100 percent on board with the deal. Jake Peavy isn't about to win the Cy Young and he's far from an ace, but he was the second-best starting pitcher on the market, and the Red Sox landed him for a player they really had no interest in keeping around. Although Brandon Workman has been a very effective starting pitcher, I'd trust Peavy more down the stretch, as he has been tested by the rigors of pennant chase baseball, and Workman could easily morph into an effective bullpen arm, akin to Masterson or Aceves, as you've mentioned. It's amazing to me how this deal is currently being eviscerated by the hosts of a particular Boston sports radio program, like the two co-hosts are blissfully unaware of how Jose Iglesias' bat was falling back to earth at terminal velocity and they managed to turn him into a reliable second or third-starter. Hell, at the rate he was going, it was possible that Iglesias wouldn't even be getting regular playing time come September. His wet noodle bat could turn him into a defensive replacement by the time the Tigers are pushing for the division crown. EDIT - Okay, now one of the Boston radio co-hosts just referred to Jose Iglesias as Ozzie Smith. CALM THE EFF DOWN, GUY. Lot of talk about Michael Young being traded to the Yankees. Considering how 3B's performed this year and who knows what's going to happen with A-Rod, I'm ok with this as long as the Phils don't ask for any top prospects. Michael Young will join Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano, Lyle Overbay, Vernon Wells and Ichiro in the most dominant lineup 2003 has ever seen.
