Although Edge is usually good on the mic, the early months of his heel turn gave us some Shatner-esque promos: "I...WAS...SCREWWWWED...AT...TABOO...TUESDAY!"
Those were funny in all the wrong ways.

Hogan at SummerSlam 89 talking about swimming across the NY/NJ river with Beefcake with their motorbikes on their shoulders, or something. Hogan at WrestleMania IV saying that he would save Donald Trump and his family when Trump Plaza fell into the core of the planet. Hogan at SummerSlam 90 saying he was going to build a new surfboard and fight a shark. Yet Warrior gets all the flak for insane promos.

Kane's Katie Vick Explanation Promo Matt Hardy's Return Anti-Lita/Edge Promo Both were awful but for different reasons. Kane sounded like he couldn't remember and was thinking back towards the script. well to be fair to kane it was the katie vick storyline, a storyline so bad in of itself he probably just said "screw it I'm going to make this story even worse!" I don't blame him for it too.

"AND THAT'S WHY I KICKED YOUR LEG OUT OF your leg." I love how all the intensity suddenly drops off when he realizes he's hit the point at which he couldn't end the promo and sound logical.

I remember a Bobby Lashley promo from the first Smackdown of this year and he talks about his plans for 2006. He talks about winning the Royal Rumble and going against Batista at Wrestlemania. Everything was okay until the end where he goes, "Yeah...I like the sound of that". Add how high pitch his voice sounds and the face he made and it was probably the funniest moment for me this year while watching wrestling.

Think about Dusty Rhodes "That's Hard Times" Promo:
"I'm gonna reach out right now. And I want you people sitting at home to know that my hand is touching your hand. For this country, of the biggest body of people in this country, in this universe, now reach it out."
It's intense when you listen to it, then when you write it out like this, it kinda makes you laugh.

At WrestleMania VI, Warrior was showing Hogan his warrior sign that he drew on the locker room wall and said that since red and yellow were contained in the drawing, this somehow proved that he didn't want to destroy Hulkamania.
I have no idea what the point of all that was.

there's this overtly bizzare on I found on ytmnd the other night of the Warrior. I think it was a bunch of promos pieced together to make it seem even weirder actually. (I haven't seen the "Self-Destruction DVD" yet, so pardon my ignorance)

I still love the Mean Gene "hug it!" bit from Summerslam. Someone mentioned Jake from Survivor Series '91...isn't that the one where (and I'm going by memory, so I may be off), Gene says something like "These people don't care very much for you, Jake Roberts" and he responds with "What do you know? I spoke with God this morning, and He told me that He doesn't like you.Yes, Jake said that. It was awesome! lol yeah Jake was stealing a quote from an Ozzy song from the album "No more Tears". Ozzy sings the part about having a talk with god and god saying he don't like you. I forgot which song! anyway the whole Chucky and Rick Steiner one comes to mind. They tried to be a little serious with that and it just came off so funny and stupid.

Mike Awesome cut some unintentionally funny promos he sounded like Khali with Laryngitis, I remember one episode of ECW on tnn when Mike was the Champ he stood in the middle of the ring (clutching to the belt) and schreeched....
"baaaauuuurrrrruuaaaarrrr my title aaahhh ooooooo mmma ggaaaaaa daaaaa plinky plinky pong pong baaarruurr *Points to someone in the audience* Hey f*** you man bbbaaarrrr hhaaaat"
I wish I could find that clip its so damn funny.
another great one was when Chris Masters grabbed Carlito backstage......
Master- bbaaabababababababab shut up shut up.

Batista just seems like the kid on the playground that was always trying to get in fights with everyone else but whenever he tried to "talk big" everyone else just laughed at him. You're not a Wrestling God. You're a Wrestling ... Fraud! LOOK OF FEAR!

No mention of Shane Douglas yet? "Terry Funk, I smashed your knee to obli..ga...tory!" The promo was going well up to that point. I also like Kevin Nash's debut on Nitro. "This is where the big boys play, huh? Look at the adjective... play! We ain't here to play!" "Play" is a verb Big Kev. Thanks for "playing" anyway, "playa"!

nothing will touch the Luger one, but the one that Magnum T.A. did in the 80s about Tully Blanchard is gold. I mean back then, what he was saying woulda been pretty tough-guy sounding, now it just sounds very... what's the word... oh yes, Gay. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvalrcu1eYU
