{Spoiler}With the departure of Bruce Prichard, Eric Bischoff has assumed the role of the head of TNA creative. Former WWE creative team member Dave Lagana and Matt Conway remain on as writers. The feeling is the direction isn’t going to be changing much from what was happening with Prichard out of the mix, reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. You know TNA, when you look like you might be getting out of that hole of stupidity.......something like doing this drags you right back in.

Eh, it might not be so bad. WCW under Bischoff was probably the best it ever was. Yeah he made some bonehead moves but hopefully Lagana, Conway and others will try to rope him in if he's starts coming up with things like a Sumo Monster Truck match.

I've written and erased 3 different responses, all of which boil down to "Are you f***ing joking?" with healthy dose of "Of course he is" thrown in for good measure.
I'm not surprised, but I very much wish I was.

This is the Tito Ortiz mystery man angle equivalent in terms of booking assignments.

"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it." Would it be more apt to say those why by into revisionist history and gleefully try to repeat it are doomed to the actuality of what happened before? I truly believe that Eric and Dixie both believe that WCW worked, and would still work and have "won" if AOLTW didn't pull the funding. Thus it isn't that they don't know that WCW went out of business or that Eric helmed a ship for six years that managed to be profitable, at best, half the time. However, if the line "we just need a little more time" is what is believed...then well I'm glad the Carters have a lot of money.

this is either going to be the iceberg that sinks the ship or work for a while and he is replaced once someone better suited to it can be found.
fingers crossed it isn't the iceberg

Man, I try to not be snarky for no reason at TNA and I hold out hope that the company would be much more than it is...but I guess there's a reason why hope was at the bottom of Pandora's Box.

The funny thing about the "those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" line is that Bischoff took over WCW when they were in worse shape than TNA is now, and he turned that franchise into the #1 wrestling promotion in the world within a few years. Everyone remembers the fall, but no one remembers (or wants to remember) the climb. I'm not suggesting that Bischoff will do a good job in this role, but what got him in trouble in WCW was the unlimited bank account. Once revenue started to dip, the enormous guaranteed contracts crippled that company. As long as TNA is working within their means as best they can, I doubt Bischoff can do anything that mirrors WCW even if he wanted to (i.e. signing Batista).

I wish they would have just gone totally batshit crazy and got somebody like the Ultimate Warrior as Head of Creative. At least it would be... well, creative.

While the unlimited bank account definitely hurt Bischoff in WCW, he had no control over the guys and let Hogan, Nash, and others pretty much do whatever they wanted at the expense of the overall product. He did a good job for a while but ultimately showed his limitations when the nWo and Goldberg finally ran out of gas IMO.

Way to shoot the guy down before even giving him a chance or anything. It's not as if every writer pretty much everywhere hasn't been a writer before and probably will be again at some point. Not to mention that Bischoff was at the helm of WCW when it was at it's hottest, most competitive and most profitable and most of his mistakes came from overconfidence rather than incompetence. No lets just shit all over him even though Russo got the same treatment yet brought TNA through it's best years alongside wrestling's other villain Ed Ferrara.
I'm not saying Bischoff is going to make the place into the land of gold but jeeze, get a grip.
