Hero? I'll take it. But the NOAH deal would be great. A Marufuji/Homicide feud would be awesome. ROH: needs more Marufuji Naomichi.

I love the ideas I'm reading on here, but in regards to the idea of Homicide losing and then coming back, wouldn't it kind of make Homicide look like a liar and a Hootie Hoo!?
I mean this "I'm leaving the company if I lose" stipulation wasn't a Cornette thing, Cide did it himself at Destiny. He declared this.
So if he loses the match, no matter how, how does Homicide justify his future return logically?

I always thought if Homicide lost, he'd spend a few months away and return in the Spring/Summer. How do you logically explain it? I don't know.
If Homicide wins and Danielson spends a few months possibly getting surgery and fixing his shoulder, when he comes back, he has to go right back for the belt. I can't see Danielson in a similar spot to Joe/Daniels. Without the title, he's sort of just floating around.

Danielson wins in some screwball fashion, and then immediatly afterwards drops the belt, tells the fans to piss off because he doesn't need them anymore, and takes time off to heel his shoulder. This doesn't make much sense. Danielson prides himself on being the Champion forever and beating all challengers. Why he just one day change his mind and say screw it?

I would be very upset if Hero won the title, and tried to duck opponents. I want a ROH champion who takes on everybody, just like all the champions before. I wouldnt care if he did that with a minor title, but not the ROH World Title. Thats not what ROH is all about.

Not a bad idea, but I see things differently. This is Homicide's moment. They won't deny him that. He wins a hard fought match against Danielson and finally tastes RoH gold, much to the delight of fans and a good chunk of the locker room. But his time with the title will be VERY short-lived. Couple months at best. With his own bum shoulder and his TNA profile rising, his attention won't be focused on a challenger he won't expect ... Chris Hero. Hero steals the title and goes on a JBL/Honky style reign; ducks challengers, gets DQ'ed, counted out, cheats to win ... whatever it takes. Because the title is his validation; it's his way of proving the RoH locker room wrong. He DID deserve to be booked in RoH. He shouldn't have had to invade the company with CZW to prove his value. Defeating their golden boy (regardless of HOW) will, in his mind, cement his position and prove (in his mind) to the crowd that he's not only meant to be in RoH, but he's BETTER then RoH. Who takes it off Hero? Well, you have two excellent candidates in: Nigel McGuinness (a technical wrestler in the Danielson vein, his and Hero's personalities are a natural clash, and the audience WANTS it). or BJ Whitmer (sacrificed self and safety to defend RoH during the CZW invasion, even setting aside his beef with Jimmy Jacobs to do so, has had several run-ins with Hero and his soon-to-be former partner Claudio Castignoli). Jed Shaffer ~Whatever happens, it's bound to rule. That we can all agree on. I love this idea.

I'd love to see Hero with a short ROH title reign. The guy would be the most heated and hated champion in company history. This would be where you borrow a page from CM Punk Summer of 05. Have Hero ducking everyone until they get to him. They either jab at his ego until he feels he has to face them, or he's forced in to the matches by some outside circumstance (like Foley was to Punk). It would be a fun ride, that's for sure.

I wouldnt care if he did that with a minor title, but not the ROH World Title. Thats not what ROH is all about. That's the point. He'd be even more of a heel than he is now. I concur wholeheartedly with your response. Take a look at ROH's title history. Low Ki, Xavier, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, CM Punk, James Gibson, Bryan Danielson. Low Ki was the first champ. Brutal competitor who embodied ROH at the beginning: wrestling is what they are here for, and thusly they shall receive it. Xavier as the Prophecy's champ, doing Daniels' dirty work as heel champ. Why did he get the belt? Because Daniels not only was booked other places. He also couldn't have gotten that kind of heat. Xavier didn't "deserve" the title, and thus got the heat necessary to make the Prophecy over as heels. Heel champ early on also helps establish the babyfaces in whom a crowd must invest energy in. Samoa Joe - the first long title reign. beat all comers, put on classics, defended the belt abroad, and made a name of ROH Austin Aries - I haven't seen much of his title reign, but his reign fits in as the logical progression from Joe's. 6 months is impressive, but not so impressive as Joe's. Maintain the belt as the prize and have a fighting champion. CM Punk - 2 month reign as a thank you for all he had done for ROH. His heel turn at the end of the show, followed by the return of the Fallen Angel, brought that last hurrah full circle on his time there. James Gibson - similar to Punk as it was a thank you/achievement award, but he was incredible by all accounts over his reign. A transition that allowed former champs like Joe and Aries to do their thing while reconfiguring the card and seeing who could be booked how successfully. Bryan Danielson - assumes the mantle Joe did, but as a true classic heel. A great fighting champion who has beaten all comers. Despite his greatness, you never know when he'll be booked to lose. It is being built such that the next few champs will be transitional, telling a story as they try to find the next big champ. It would make sense to reward Homicide or Jay Briscoe for their skill and hard work, and then eventually, we get the summer of Hero, who feuds against Nigel, who eventually is handed the Next Great Reign mantle from Joe and Dragon. So basically what I'm trying to say is that the next 4-6 months of ROH will be telling the story that culminates in Nigel McGuinness holding the belt through the end of 2007, barring the unforseen.

I'll say this now....I hope BJ NEVER becomes ROH Champion. I just don't care for him......or Jimmy Rave.
I'm not trying to be a sour grape, but I can see a dozen guys who would be better as champ than BJ.
But in any event, here's my story for what could happen THAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING SINCE GBH5
"Homicide hits Cop Killa on Danielson....1.....2......foot on rope....crowd cries..then Homicide gets smile....then starts to do Danielson's elbow TKO finish.................ref stops it, Homicide wins.......but then.......
(my old story)......Cornette comes out, says belt can only change on pin or submission......Danielson keeps belt, NYC riots.
(my new story).....LOW KI comes out.....destroys Cide.....steals belt
(possible story).....Cide celebrates...end of story.

Although I know this show is going to have some serious consideration for show of the year just due to the emotions that are going to be present.

If you look at it from a real life standpoint, ROH and Ki would have had to iron out their issues far ahead of time for him to pop up and involve himself with Cide and Danielson. However, talking strictly kayfabe, Ki was only banned for life for as long as Cornette was the man in charge. And he isn't anymore.
It would be a huge swerve, and in Manhatten it would go over huge.

Ki needs to return on February 23 in Dayton. It's Ring of Honor's 5th birthday, and something needs to be done in Dayton that makes the crowd go "Damn, I'm really glad I came tonight, I better come again and tell all my buddies, because you NEVER know what ROH will pull out of its bag of tricks next!"

I think ROH could bring in Ki for this and then a Cide/Ki match in January......and that's it.....they wouldn't have to iron much out. It could be possible.

I say that about pretty much 95% of ROH shows that I watch.
