I think they've thrown a random hot blonde on every show on this channel.
Seriously. I've switched onto it three times today, and each time there was a different blonde.

It took a long time for ESPN to go from ambitious start-up to Sports Media Gods. FS1 needs a chance to actually grow and prove itself.

So, I haven't heard too much about this channel. Is it basically Fox' version of ESPN? Are they showing NFL or MLB games? I keep seeing the hype for it, I just don't know what it's all about. If it's easier to give me a link to explain it, I'll take that. Thanks! Won't be showing any NFL or MLB games Thanks. Saw a few minutes today, but it seemed like filler programming. So we have ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, ESPNU, Comcast Sports Net, NBC Sports Network, Big Ten Network (and other college networks), NFL/NBA/MLB Networks, Golf Channel, Fox Sports Soccer (going away) & now Fox Sports 1. Am I missing any? Will there be a Fox Sports 2? Seems like overkill to me...

I wonder what the cable/satellite companies were paying for the Speed channel. 23 cents a subscriber. Fox wanted 80 cents for FS1, so they are losing BIG with the transition right now!

I assume the reason why F4W is reporting on this because of the MMA aspect? Because when I first read this I was under the (hopeful) impression that Fox was finally getting into the wrestling business by airing a promotion on Fox Sports 1. But then I remembered that a lot of the dirt sheets now follow MMA and Fox has the free TV rights to the UFC.

It replaces Fuel TV. www.fuel.tvSo in addition to finding out that I get FS1, I also discovered through channel surfing that I get Fox Soccer. Which is kinda useless since it'll be replaced by FXX in a few weeks.

Dont forget ESPN Classic (of course, by this point that channel is basically running on autopilot, reairing global was probably the biggest thing to happen to that channel in recent years).

Thanks for the info guys! I forgot about ESPN Classic, I had it, then it was gone, then I accidentally found I had it again flipping through the guide one day.

Jay and Dan seemed a bit nervous (understandable) but overall, they did a great job. I loved all the subtle references to their podcast they threw in throughout the show. The only thing I hope for is that Fox Sports 1 gets a hockey show around when the season starts and they let Jay and Dan host it too.

I hope as the months go on they hire more talking heads. Donovan McNabb talking about football is fine. But Donovan airing his opinions on baseball, UFC, soccer and everything else gets tiring. By the end of the show, I was hoping they would cover something really obscure just to see him and his panel fake their way through it. "...And to continue our conversation on last month's ANZ Championship Grand Final, here's Fox's number one netball fan Donovan McNabb!"

Watched a few minutes of their SportsCenter (didn't catch the name) and my first thought was there was way too much going on on the screen. Too busy. Also, the animations they added got annoying after a while. I know it's only day one, but they need to slow down, & quit trying to show off their tech "skills". Keep it simple, stupid.

I don't think that panel sticks. Their eventually going to go to more of a SportsCenter model. They're trying to be outside the box, but sports fans hate change. Best thing they could do is offer a variety of different highlights.
There are FARRRR more Blackhawks fans than Milwaukee Bucks fans, yet ESPN will favor the NBA in all circumstances.

I heard they might even throw an LCS game or two there. As for the op, Fox decided it was better off for now to just get the channel on rather than fight. There's just so many disputes between cable companies and channels these days (ie Time Warner Cable vs. CBS right now).

It took a long time for ESPN to go from ambitious start-up to Sports Media Gods. FS1 needs a chance to actually grow and prove itself. The difference being that when ESPN launched there wasn't a juggernaut challenger that is pretty much established as THE sports network. I'm not saying that you're wrong or anything but its going to be hard for them go gain a foothold.
