Holy crap. I can't wait to get home from work today. You guys have filled my night. I'm enjoying the hell out of this thread; I hope the OP isn't too mad it's deviated slightly from the original intent.

The Raven/RvD was a good match, why the hell didn't WCW pick him up ? I could be remembering wrong, but I think this is around when WCW briefly banned moves off of the top rope. Guys like Rob weren't too keen on that, when it took away a lot of what made guys like him stand out. Others in the company hated it for being a very old school, stupid rule, like the old rule about tossing opponents over the top rope being a DQ.

There were a few Undertakers before Calloway. This one was something of a valet/Kim-Chee type for the Zombie, a shortlived gimmick to feud with Nightmare Freddy (Jason and the Wolfman got involved at some point too, no joke). Then there were the Undertakers up in IWCCW, whom McMahon hired and bought the name off of (the Memphis version was long gone by then and had only lasted a few weeks).

This one gets bonus points for Mean Mark as a coffin pushing goon and a dude with a black hat though! What were the Undertakers in IWCCW like?

Dunno who it is, but it's not Calloway. EDIT: Rewatched, just realized he's there, just not as the "Undertaker" character. My bad.

It might be. Looks a little off for the time period, but could be.

I saw an episode of WCW Worldwide the other day where Okerlund interviewed Austin and Col. Parker (post Hollywood Blonds). They were talking about New York, and Austin went off about "heroes with tour busses" and how people from NY and surrounding areas were stupid for needing them. It wasn't an earthshaking promo by any means, but seeing them take an obvious shot at the Lex Express was entertaining and something I completely missed. Sadly though, I cant find a link.

Watts had good intentions behind the idea, but it wasn't explained or executed properly. Not that he was around very long anyway. The idea wasn't to eliminate them, but to, in his words, "add mystery to them" and make them more special by having everyone find ways to do it behind the referee's back, etc. In his (maybe outdated) mind, they would get even bigger pops from the crowd if they weren't legal moves yet sill happened from time to time. As for RVD, I distinctly remember at this same time, he was also doing tours for All Japan. That could have been a contributing factor in not signing any sort of contract.

The only wrestling show I've ever attended was one of these IWCCW events in 1991, and the main event was Honky vs. Rude. Ended in a DQ I believe. The first clip looks alot like the venue it took place in, but it couldn't have been the show I attended since I don't recall Rude and Honky cutting a promo together, and I don't see me nor my parents sitting in the second row.

As a follow up to my last post about RVD in All Japan during that period, I found an example.
Rob Van Dam & Stan Hansen vs. Kenta Kobashi & Toshiaki Kawada!

Scott (Rechsteiner) was a "World champion" in Dick The Bruiser's WWA. I remember watching some of those shows on local TV, think it was on like Saturday night/Sunday morning at 12:30am. His biggest nemesis was the Great Wojo. The Hennig-Gilbert match was on the Mr. Perfect DVD. I always liked those kind of matches with Monsoon doing what he can to teach us a little about these two guys we don't really know a whole lot about. (Usually matches that feature two scrub wrestlers.) I know there's a match out there from the Wrestling Classic where Adrian Adonis wrestled Dynamite Kid and breaks out a sharpshooter.

I was shocked when I heard Bret Hart wrestled Andre The Giant in a singles match.

Sabu (as Samu) vs. a young RVD in Memphis in 1991 www.youtube.com/watch?v=68grGOlVDHwI guess Sabu was Samu in Memphis because there was already a Sabu in Memphis www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pc_m_ADVn4And apparently Samu (Headshrinker) did wrestle in Memphis also as Samu as part of the build up to Superclash 3. So in Memphis: that's 2 Samus, 1 Sabu, and Sabu as Samu.
