Seriously, it seems every other week the guy is doing something mental or getting beaten black and blue. He's approaching Folely-levels here.
It's even more crazier since he never ever takes pain pills. You think, in that case, he'd protect himself a bit more.
Why is he doing it? Does he think he has to prove something? Are him and Rollins having a contest to see who can take the most unnecessary punishment?

And in 10 years he'll be 45 and want to walk.

Maybe he's getting another break after this feud so he is willing to go all out knowing he will have time to rest afterwards.

I actually do believe Punk when he says he's 100% clean.
But I simply can't imagine putting my body through what he does and not taking a pill just to get me through the day. Mick Foley, who's never been keen on drugs at all, basically 'fessed up in one of his books that he needs at least one or two just to get through the day and not be totally miserable.
Punk must be in complete agony 24/7.

I love how the stuff with Punk and Heyman is so different from the rest of the show. Like there's The CM Punk and Paul Heyman Half Hour spinoff show, where everything is all twisted and violent and incredibly well done, and then the rest of the show is the same goofy bullshit.

And in 10 years he'll be 45 and want to walk. Not even ten. Didn't he say he wanted to retire in the next few years? Maybe he just wants to go out with a bang. Give 'em something to remember him by.

For the record Mick Foley (essentially) retired at 34/35 and is in such a state now he can barely bend over tie his show laces.

Basically, yeah, you can sometimes time off and rest up. But the big bumps you take? They ALWAYS with you.
I remember Meltzer mentioning that Matt Hardy's leg drop off of the cage on to Edge in 2005 was the worst bump he probably ever took and likely led to his later issues with painkillers. In hindsight, it wasn't worth it.

While he's been ramping it up, in terms of punishment he's willing to take, Punk's nowhere near Foley's level (this is the man that regularly did sunset flips to the exposed concrete floor from the ring apron).

...Foley levels?
He took a ladder to the face and allowed himself to be caned to the point where it broke the skin. Let's not pretend that he's falling from 15 foot ledges.

Either he has an intensity and dedication to his craft in making this feud as memorable as he can, or really really wants to get out of wrestling Curtis Axel any way he can.
