Since a thread of this does not exist, I decided to make one. It is now time for the show that features Knockouts of the past and present plus Knockouts you have never seen on TNA before. So for all fans of women's wrestling, this is the TNA show for you. If you do not want to be spoiled by who shows up, don't read the spoilers of the matches that will happen. {Spoiler} 1. Alissa Flash vs. Gail Kim 2. Ivelisse Velez vs. Lei'D Tapa 3. Mia Yim vs. Tara 4. Brooke Tessmacher vs. Santana Garrett 5. ODB vs. Trinity 6. Jackie Moore vs. Taryn Terrell 7. Hannah Blossom vs. Sojo Bolt vs. Taeler Hendrix 8. Jillian Hall vs. Velvet Sky 9. Mickie James vs. Serena Deeb 10. Battle Royal With All The Winners (Madison Rayne will crown the winner as Queen of the Knockouts)

{Spoiler}Spoiler Kim/Flash & Mickie/Deeb could be pretty good. Yim/Tara could be alright. Rest sounds like complete trash.

{Spoiler}James/Deeb will probably be pretty amazing along with Kim/Flash. The rest I'm eh on, though I'm interested to see how Mia Yim and Hannah Blossom do in a bigger stage type environment. And I'll be happy to see Taeler and and Ivelisse on my screen again as I am a fan of theirs, and Taryn for what will likely be the last time for awhile. (actually Moore/Taryn is of all those matches the most likely to be a hidden gem I think).
Sky/Hall will be horrid though. Sky is sloppy enough on her own but I've always thought that Hall never got enough attention for how horrible and sloppy she always was herself. I bet most people are hoping Hall could carry Velvet because there's this idea out there that Jillian Hall is a good worker but I never understood it.

And for continuity sakes, enjoy seeing released KO's wrestle, with no mention of them no longer working for TNA. Its like bizarro world!

Guess I'm the only one who doesn't mind this at all.
Seriously, after everyone making fun of how much women wrestling is bad, TNA giving the Knockouts their own freaking PPV is actually revolutionary.
I'M F***ING SERIOUS.

Hope some of these women impress enough to start appearing regularly. The KO division is not what it was and needs a serious shit in the arm. After seeing some footage, I would actually love to see TNA try bringing in some luchadoras like Sexy Star, and definitely some new women from Japan.

Dude I know the KO division is in trouble but, that's the LAST thing it needs in the arm.

Alissa Flash vs Gail- Pretty Good not nearly as good as it could/should have been though. Mia Yim vs Tara- Mia Yim made this match interesting, and completely outshined Tara, still only decent. Ivelisse vs Tapa- Not nearly as good as their first match on Impact. Tapa looked really green here, but Ivelisse was still able to shine at times. Tessmacher vs Santanna- Once again the non-TNA talent looked much better than the actual TNA KO, decent match mainly thanks to Santana. ODB vs Trinity- Horrible ODB got most of the offense and was boring Jackie vs Taryn- Not good at all, Jackie should retire permanently, and Taryn is good at taking big bumps but not so good at actually working a normal wrestling match. Hanah Blossom vs Sojo vs Taeler- Boring Comedy Match Jillian vs Velvet- Horrible Serena vs Mickie- Started off interesting, then just turned into your typical Mickie james match. They should have really kept going with the face vs face style they had at the start because that was good.
I'm not bothering with the Battle Royal
All in all this wasn't very good. The News Years Eve tourney they had in 2009 was so much better. Hamada vs Roxxi, and Hamada vs ODB were better than each and every match on the card by quite a large margin.

{Spoiler}Spoiler Spoiler
I just want to say that the commentary on this show was rather horrendous and they spent more time making jokes than talking about the matches. I had some high hopes for this show being a fan of SHIMMER and knowing what some of these women are really capable of. That being, let's dissect this piece by piece for my opinions:
This show had a very outdated feeling when Brooke Hogan came out to announce the night's festivities and more than half of the women in the ring are no longer with the company. Also very weird seeing Brooke Tesmsmacher and Mickie as faces and Jessie managing Tara.
Alissa Flash vs. Gail Kim- It was nice to see Alissa on PPV and in a TNA ring but this match wasn't what I was expecting. Both did a good job but it really felt like they didn't live up to what they could have.
About a thousand videos aired during this show. One of which was a video plugging the Knockouts pictorials on the website. This video felt like it got more time and was longer than the first three matches got. During this video, a knock off Rihanna song played and another song that between the pictures and the song itself, made me feel I was watching one of those low rent, cheap PPV pornographies rather than a wrestling PPV.
Mia Yim vs. Tara- This was a decent match. Mia showed a little what she could do and there were some entertaining moments in the match such as Tara shouting "GO BACK TO THE INDIES" during the match. Tazz cared so much that he made Mia Hamm jokes throughout the entire match. Mia did bust out a swank lionsault and of course her SkyYim looked great even in not connecting.
Ivelisse vs. Lei'd Tapa- About what we saw with their Impact match. Ive shows a lot of fire and talent so I'm not sure why she wasn't brought in full time.
Brooke Tessmacher vs. Santana Garrett- Santana came out to a Santana rip off theme that TNA has used in the past. The match felt over before it really got going and most of the videos were arguably longer than this.
Speaking of long videos, they recapped ODB's best moment in TNA. Not only was this ODB's best TNA moment but they replayed the entire wedding. It was around this point I was regretting spending money on this PPV. Legitimately aired a love video of theirs during a video recap which felt so utterly pointless as did this whole thing. Did we really need to see this again for people paying? This got more time than the first four matches may have combined it felt that long.
ODB vs. Trinity- Trinity looks exactly the same just about how she did a decade ago when she was with TNA. An okay match overall, ODB isn't my cup of tea but she is talented and Trinity didn't look bad.
Taryn Terrell vs. Jackie Moore- Decent match and Jackie can still go in the ring even at her age. Not too much else to say about this one except I was surprised Jackie got the win.
Hannah Blossom vs. Taeler Hendrix vs. SoJo Bolt- Largely a comedy match that almost turned into a trainwreck. The idea was to have Taeler and Sojo team up as heels but the problem was that the crowd chanted "USA" and "Taeler Hendrix" during the match. None the less, entertaining for what it was.
Jillian Hall vs. Velvet Sky- Started off okay, then quickly got horrible. I didn't expect a good match but they were maybe even worse than I thought. The entire finishing stretch of the match was one botch after another that just looked bad. Jillian came out to Jenna Morasca's old theme song and sang a rendition of "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera after making a Beautiful People reference.
Serena Deeb vs. Mickie James- Best match of the night that felt like an actual wrestling match given time. They played off face vs. face at first before it went into a more heated match and ultimately I actually felt Serena lived up to what I know she can do being given the chance. By far the best match on the show.
Gauntlet- Pretty yawn worthy and a major step down after the last match. Anyone new or fresh in the match was thrown out of the match early on and it had a rather predictable ending.
I wasn't expecting SHIMMER with this show but to say I was let down would be an understatement. The PPV ended twenty minutes early, every match but one felt short and there was much more time devoted to pointless videos and recaps than the actual matches. If I didn't know what any of these women could do beforehand, I would have left this thinking the new debuts were largely average and unimpressive save for maybe Mia who showed her flying skills. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but maybe, maybe watch Serena and Mickie if you get a chance. Other than that, there is nothing that is remotely must see from this. There were also a share of production errors and botches that they had months to edit but never did, which goes to show how much they even cared about this show.

This was an awful show. The girls tried, but they just aren't good enough to do their own show. Velez was the highlight here and her opponent Tapa was the lowlight.

I am curious to what you liked about the Serena Mickie match other than the nice face vs face exchange at the start? Other than that it was Mickie hitting the same exact moves she uses in each and every other match. She did nothing new.

To be honest, I think at this point of the show I was just glad to see a match get time and the chance to be able to look like an actual match. One of my biggest pet peeves about a lot of these matches were that they basically went out there and got right into the match without any build because of the short time they got. This felt like it at least told a story even if Mickie did nothing new. By no means do I think this was a classic and you could easily find a lot better matches out there but on a show filled with underwhelming matches, this almost stood out a lot more to me than the others. This was pretty much the least worst match on the show in my opinion, though I may have been a little harsher on Kim/Alissa since they did good too. I agree with your point though, none of this lived up to that tournament in 2009 or the Knockouts at their peak. If you go into it expecting that, then it's only going to be depressing.

What annoyed me about the Mickie vs Serena match is that the face vs face style of match they had at the beginning was actually pretty good and fast paced, but then they just abandoned that to have your average run of the mill Mickie James match. I don't think you were too harsh on the Gail vs Alissa match at all. IMO Alissa has kind of exited the prime of her career and has started to slip a tiny bit, she's still really good but not as good as she was a couple of years ago. Gail was disappointing as I thought she'd really take advantage of being in the ring with an opponent who is much better than who she usually faces, but she really didn't and the match was just good instead of being great.

I'm thankful I didn't read the boards before watching the PPV, cos I mostly enjoyed it (I could have done without the ODB/EY wedding recap & the KOs pics slideshow, but I guess with so many past KOs rejecting TNA's offers, they had to kill time). And Tapa was certainly not the lowlight of the show, she even surprised me by holding her own during the gauntlet. I'd give that dubious honor to Tazz & Tenay.
(of course, if you go into the show expecting five stars matches everywhere, or for it to be up to par with Shimmer or joshi PPVs... well, you really should have more realistic expectations, IMO)

{Spoiler} Commentary sucked. I am now convinced that both Mike Tenay and Taz need to be fired. Not only are they obviously not connecting with each other, but it is obvious that they are just pretending to give a crap about what is going on.
The editing team was also terrible with three straight segments to sell the Knockouts website and they didn't even bother omitting stuff like saying you are watching Impact during the re-showing the Lei'D Tapa/Ivelisse Gutcheck vignettes.
Now the matches: * Gail Kim vs. Alissa Flash - Damn good match to start off the show and for a long time, it was the best match of the show. Ended up being the 2nd best match. * Ivelisse vs. Lei'D Tapa - Tapa is still damn green so Ivelisse had to do so much carrying to at least make this match okay. * Tara vs. Mia Yim - Tara allowed Mia Yim to get a lot of offense in and honestly, I would say she would be one of the indy people that I would sign. It was decent despite the stupid spot where Jesse Godderz was interfering right in front of the ref. * Santana vs. Tessmacher - Tessmacher also allowed Santana to get a lot of offense which was good. But for Santana, I would send her to developmental because her promo was not that good. * ODB vs. Trinity - This was the worst match of the night. This was boring where they for several minutes did nothing. * Taryn Terrell vs. Jackie Moore - Not a good match and it is sad that this will be Taryn's last shown match for a while because she got pregnant. * Hannah Blossom vs. Taeler Hendrix vs. Sojo Bolt - Liked that through most of the match, Taeler and Sojo worked as heels double teaming Hannah. Other than that, it was an average match although it still astounds me that she is leaving this company because somebody thought she was too heavy for TV. Still pissed over that.... * Velvet Sky vs. Jillian Hall - This match was terrible. Nuff said.... * Serena vs. Mickie James - Match of the show. It is obvious that they need to sign Serena to a Knockouts contract immediately. Also loved the angle that the two basically being friends with each other because of respect and as the match went on, they started getting physical. It told a story and the two wrestled very well. * Battle Royal - Only got good at the end when Gail Kim feigned a knee injury to beat Mickie James and win the whole thing. Also showed Gail Kim for most of the night being buddy-buddy with Madison Rayne and then after Madison celebrates by giving her the crown, Gail shoos her out of the ring so she can get all the attention.

I did go in hoping that they could at least put on a show similar in quality to the New Years eve tourney I mentioned earlier, But it didn't even come close despite having no commercials and only women's matches on the show ( The New Years eve tourney also showed some of the better mens tna matches of the year which cut time out from the women's matches) Still don't understand why people can like Mickie's matches when she does the exact same thing every match you can tell what she's goign to do before she even does it she's so stale. John Cena at least busts out some different spots for bigger/Longer matches. Mickie doesn't even do that. If my standards are too high than yours are way too low.
