It may be lost and forgotten in the Punk/Heyman feud, but Curtis Axel is the Intercontinental Champion right now.
The Pay-Per-View coming up is Night of Champions, where unless things have changed, EVERY title is suppossed to be on the line.
I don't see this elimination match being for the IC title.
So, seeing as I see Punk costng Axel the title somehow before Night of Champions, who would you havebe the new IC champ going into Night of Champions?

I can see WWE not putting the title on the line since Heyman was added to the match (wasn't he?). Since it's not one-on-one, that gives WWE a valid reason not to make it for the IC title.

Will probably be Kofi Kingston for what.. his 8th needless and forgettable mid-card title run. Really, he should drop it someone different. Give someone else a go with the belt. Alex Riley would be a good choice.

Whoever wins the title is really just winning the right to tap out to Aggressive armbars. May as well give it to Sin Cara, it will match his white outfit nicely.

One thought I did have was Fandango, but seeing as they dropped the Fandango/Miz feud apparently...

Yeah, anytime they need a transitional mid card face to hold a belt, it's him. I think he has the most title reigns in the last 7 years, than anyone else.

He's going to drop it to the floor again. Hey, he thought Little Jimmy was following him.

Evan Bourne
The WWE loves them some attractive wrestlers from St. Louis with (at least) 2 wellness strikes.
Note: Not joking either. He supposedly is coming back soon.

He should drop it to Punk.
Punk is the kind of guy who could elevate its status.

Alex Riley would be a good choice. I'm pretty sure they're transitioning Riley into a commentator like Matt Striker was now.

Alex Riley would be a good choice. I'm pretty sure they're transitioning Riley into a commentator like Matt Striker was now. Idk. Riley was on the stage in his ring gear (standing with Ryder and Khali) when Cena picked Bryan as his Summerslam opponent. Riley would be a good choice. He should be commentating AND wrestling just like Miz. There's no real reason for him to not to be in the ring (aside from no time being allocated to him). The commentary team is so stacked that it wouldn't be hard for one guy to fill in on Superstars, Main Event, or NXT, while Riley works a match. Or a five minute match in the later portion of RAW or SmackDown. He would have ample time to change out of his suit and into his gear to work a three minute filler match where he goes over Heath Slater, loses to Ambrose/Axel, or teams up with Ryder, Santino, Gabriel, Tons of Funk, etc. against the Wyatt Family before the main event/weekly Daniel Bryan gang rape.

He's going to lose it to his father's corpse, which even after a decade of rotting still has more charisma than he does.
(I don't actually think this but couldn't resist the joke.)
