Remember from 2002 onwards the Hosses would invariably get big pushes and feuds. Gene Snitsky was pushed twice. Matt Morgan. Mark Jindrak. Heidenreich. Nathan Jones (!), Jesus, Mordecai, Test in ECW, etc.
Some did well (Batista, Brock) but most failed.
With the recent flop of Mason Ryan (not just his hair do) and Big E Langston can we safely say that Vince is giving up on the Hoss?

Mark Jindrak was very athletic and was a bit of a high flyer, and never really made it off of the C-shows except as Kurt Angle lackey #2.
I don't think Vince has ever truly gotten behind the hoss. As much as Vince loves his big guys, he's never going to make those guys #1 in the company. They may get titles, but they pretty much only exist as the ultimate enhancement talent: a dragon for "little guys" like John Cena, etc. to beat and look like the underdog hero.

Batista, Brock, and Big E. aren't hosses. My definition of hoss is a big dude that is mostly immobile and mostly sucks.

I'd say it's less "WWE giving up on hosses" as much as hosses went out of style.
Despite what it sounds like, this is NOT necessarily the same thing- it's more that, since other styles of wrestling got into vogue, more stars who wrestle like that break out nationally than traditional hoss types. As a result, fewer hosses make it out nationally, which means that we're getting far, far fewer hosses- but the hosses we do get are either given another look as fewer other hosses come around (see: Chris Masters and Luke Gallows as two good examples) or are frequently better than the hosses we had before (good example: People like, say, Titus O'Neil or Alex Riley are well-liked, but they're also absolutely hosses.)
It's really more the fact that the less you get of any style, the better the quality of what you DO end up getting from that style.

He's a bit undersized compared to those other names and works a speed and agility based style compared to the other guys named. He's not presented as a powerhouse at all in spite of his considerable size.

I always thought of a hoss to have these qualities....
- At least a billed height of 6'5" - A minimum billed weight of 270 - Gotta have tattoos - Has to be an enforcer at some point - Always have an angry expression on your face - Have a match with Rey Mysterio in which you showcase how big and powerful you are.

But on the original list, Mark Jindrak was also undersized, and also worked a very similar style to Riley- but was named, so there are also comparisons there.

How the hell is Big E a flop? Also, he's tiny.

How the hell is Big E a flop? Also, he's tiny. He's short but he weighs 280 and his pecs are orders of magnitude larger than kaitlyn's plastic boobies.

Last week's Raw main event involved Big Show reluctantly kicking Daniel Bryan's ass. He made it abundantly clear that he wasn't trying and he demolished the last vanilla midget hope. I really can't see how you can infer that size matters less in WWE right now than in any other time.

WWE hasn't been obsessed with only pushing big muscled up guys in years, it's just an excuse smarks use to throw tantrums about whenever a big muscled up dude succeeds in getting over (see "Roidback" last fall).

Every other hoss is either not doing anything or Great Khali, you don't want that guy anywhere near a title.

Show only looks strong a couple matches a year though. That was it. If they had another match Bryan would kick his leg (out of his leg) a few times, then he'd be on the mat crying. This is the same guy that lost to Alberto Del Rio 3 times in a row recently.

He gave up on hosses after the success of Pawn Stars. No confusion with Big Hoss.
