Funny thing is, unlike every other iDevice which just gets a price cut, iPhone 5 is just going to be not sold anymore. Also, why the hell do smartphones have to be so expensive when you buy them out of contract? I mean, I get the idea of subsidized prices and all that, but the 16 GB iPhone 5C (the "cheap" phone) being $549 is ridiculous. I bought a Nokia Lumia 521 for 130$ and it does everything I need, save for the app library on Windows Phone 8 being a bit anemic. Similarly spec'd android phones cost about the same. An unlocked Google Nexus 4 costs $299. You can't use Apple as the benchmark. True, and to be fair I suppose it shouldn't be terribly shocking that an Apple device is priced that way. I think it's more just the fact that the 5C has pretty much the same specs as the iPhone 5 and has a plastic case, yet is still so expensive is a bit silly. Not to say I was expecting it to have the same price as an iPod touch or something, but still. Also, Lumia 521 for $130? I might check that out.

Yea, I agree with Ric, the 'S' models continue to be nothing spectacular. The iPhone 5S has that 64-bit chip (something I'll most likely not notice), fingerprint scanner, and a better camera. Absolutely no point in upgrading if you have an iPhone 5. The iPhone 5C is the iPhone 5 with colors and plastic casing. The iPhone 5C has an advantage because it is $99 for 16GB and $199 for 32GB. Of course the 4S will now come in 8GB model and be free (all pricing with 2-year contract).
The iPhone 5 is being discontinued in it's current form so some stores might be trying to get rid of stock and you might find a deal here or there. If I had an iPhone 4 or 4S and was thinking about upgrading, 5S doesn't have anything to really justify the price and I could get 32GB of memory with a 5C or $100 less with 5C 16GB.
