People have accents that aren't American. I could also ask why Americans pronounce Graham as "Gram." You mean ax them why.

As is often the case in WWE, it was probably an initial error that WWE decided to run into the ground.

At first I thought it was a botch... but the fact he did it over and over again throughout his GM run made it obvious it was deliberate. Did Regal actually think that was how it was pronounced? Was it some sort of rib/inside/backstage joke that we weren't supposed to get but which had Vince in hysterics? Was it just meant to be a random running gag for whatever reason? Rule of Funny? and as for pronunciations, America still cannot say the words Aluminium, Graham, Craig or Simultaneous correctly

You-manga is the correct Samoan pronunciation, if I remember correctly. The second part definitely is. It's a word that means "morning" and in Samoan the consonant g becomes nazalized to ng. I don't believe that the first syllable starts with a "y" though but would bet that it's Regal playing up on a quirk of some British accents which insert a "y" sound occasionally where most other accents of English don't. For example, in US English and some British English you would hear "Tuesday" prounounced with "too" at the beginning and "dew" and "do" would sound the same. However, some accents of British English (including Received Pronunciation, the style of Regal's character) would pronounce them as "tyoozday" and "dyew". By inserting an unnecessary "y" in there Regal was playing up to his supposed accent, much as he does when speaking about "Mr McMahn" as opposed to "McMan". Neither that "y" nor the long a are part of his natural English accent but his character speaks in RP and so he feigns it, which I think he did (for laughs) with the first syllable of Umaga. Triple Haitch I put down to Regal's English accent since I pronounce it the exact same way It's not part of Regal's native accent and the traditional way of pronouncing the letter in all accents of English has always been aitch ... but more and more of the younger generation aspirate it, I think by some mistaken thought that saying aitch is the same as dropping the h in 'ammer and 'ome and so marking them as speaking improperly. It's not the case, though, that the letter is pronounced starting with the sound it represents anymore than r is rar, s is ses, and f is fef. "Triple Haitch", for me, is again presenting a form of British English to the American screen for the sake of his character, even though the character he's portraying wouldn't naturally aspirate that.

Aluminium has only been the internationally-recognised spelling of the word since 1990, and aluminum is classified as an acceptable alternate. I'm willing to let the Yanks off on this one.

All I know is, when I did an impression of Regal at WM24 Axxess to win Hall of Fame tickets, I just did a British accent and used the words Sunshine and Youmanga a bunch.

No such thing?
They had an Axxess if that's what you're referring to, it was at Universal.
It wasn't much of an Axxess, granted.
