Oh I totally agree that it comes from someplace its motivated and its totally understandable but it has lead to us being on a hair trigger for getting defensive and often we do it in circumstances where its not necessary because we're so used to having to defend ourselves. Yeah, I'm totally guilty of that sometimes. I hadda bite my tongue at my job (i'm a bartender) while I had raw on one of the TVs due to it being a slow sports night and one of the regulars starting going off about wrestling being for "idiots." I at least had the sense not to screw myself out of any money the guy would give me haha. My major screw up is preemptively taking a defensive stance every time wrestling and my enjoyment of it comes up with people who's views on the subject I don't know yet. I find myself going preemptively on the defense only to learn that they're totally neutral on it or even a fan/former fan. |
