Honestly, if I were the kid, I'd be excited about this. You get your story known, your school is made to look stupid, and you get a few days off from school. Wouldn't mind that at all. Yep. I can't see this ever hurting him in the long run, especially in the real world, which doesn't operate on crazy, Bizarro school board logic. Public opinion (and, unfortunately for the people that suspended him, it will be very public) will undoubtedly be 100% on this kid's side. "Say there, job applicant, what's this suspension about?" "Oh, I was that kid that you heard about on the news that accidentally brought the knife and was suspended because I was too honest."

I love that in a thread where it's clearly an opportunity for us to all band together and rip apart this school, and a MOD has to get involved. Can't we not be argumentative and contrary for once?
Also, count me as someone who almost never missed a day and hated it.

I'm sure they'll base the decision on a "policy" which means they don't have to do any thinking or take any responsibility for their dumbass move

What a joke. He shouldn't be punished at all. All this does is still prove that being honest gets you punished at that school.
