While going through Mr. Enter's MLP: FiM episode reviews, he brings up one interesting point about Spike the character.
To him, the only writer who nailed the character down pat is Meghan McCarthy, pointing out his good portrayals in "Lesson Zero" and "The Crystal Empire".
Going by the other episodes she wrote (Dragonshy, Call Of The Cutie, Green Isn't Your Color, Party Of One, Sweet And Elite, Hearts And Hooves Day, A Canterlot Wedding) in which he didn't appear or had minor roles, he also didn't come across as annoying, clumsy or unlikable.
So, here is my wish: If we do get a Spike episode, please let me see the "Written By Meghan McCarthy" text down there.

That's a good point. Maybe writing credits will align the right way and we'll get to see what she can do with him.

I'm expecting the major Spike episodes to be given to Corey Powell instead.

<Hasbro>OK, we'll give Meghan McCarthy a Spike episode. But in return, 3 Merriweather Williams written Rainbow Dash episodes! In a row!

Corey Powell? I hope not. She wrote "Just For Sidekicks" and that one was a stinker as far as Spike episodes goes (the "unlikable" characterization).

What didn't help was that Spike's clumsiness would have made sense if he was "Serving' Rarity. We know he's mostly competant at chores at the library. If they HAD to switch him to AJ they should have set the circumstances of his clumsiness up differently.

Actually "Spike at Your Service" was the episode with the life debt, Just For Sidekicks was the pet sitting episode. And I thought the latter was pretty well regarded amongst the fans on here.

"Just For Sidekicks" was funny for almost anything not including Spike. He just came off as mean-spirited, not caring about the animals he wss supposed to take care of diddly-squat, only being interested in the gens for his jewel cake (and really, so stupid that he does not realize he ate them himself?).

Hmm, why do I get strange "The Way We Weren't" vibes from that pic?

First time I saw this...So that's where "Muppet Babies" was born. Yep. That segment was to get people introduced to the idea...and thus a series was later made. Second best scene in Muppets Take Manhattan, next to the wedding of Kermit and Piggy.

I'll admit: I have never seen any of the Muppet movies.
I watched "Muppet Babies" and The Muppet Show when it came on, but not much else from them.
