I stick by my choice. It's beautiful and fun to sing along to.
11th's not too bad. And with my second round pick, feeling a little more confident.

17th place, slightly lower than I thought but about where I thought I'd fall. Glad I got sixth from fw91; I'll just say that the top 3 are from bands that are a bit too obvious for me but that's an aspect of the game. Won't last when we get further along and more and more bands will be off limits...

He was telling that he wanted to use it last Season but decided against it. So, at least that's one song of his list this Season.

And now I know it's title.) 04. Seventh Wonder - Welcome to Mercy Falls (My kinda music. Would have been higher if not for the other 3.) 05. Regina Spektor - Ghost of Corporate Future (Simple, sweet, cute and got a demented grin from me) 06. The Who - Eminence Front 07. AC/DC - Hells Bells 08. The Byrds - Psychodrama City 09. Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage 10. Phil X - Flippin Out (Pure music. Pure good.) 11. Paramore - Hello Cold World 12. Brian McKnight - Back At One 13. Lights - The Listening 17. Jimmy Hart - Legends of Wrestling (Jimmy f***ing Hart!) 18. Brantley Gilbert - Kick It In The Sticks 19. Peace - Follow Baby 20. HAIM - Forever (At the bottom. Why? Because... it was meh.)
I changed my mind. I made a few comments on some of the songs.

Wonder if Cage has all the songs in for Round 2? He said he was only missing three. If that's the case, definitely keeping a good pace now .

Well I'm not a judge myself, but I listened to all of the songs, and while alot of them weren't my cup of tea, I didn't really hear anything that I would consider awful. And there were a few pleasant surprises that I may to check out more of down the road.
I kinda had a feeling the Jimmy Hart song was Brad. Then again I thought Imagine Dragons would be Spartan, but that's admittedly because that's also the WWEFAN Smackdown Theme which I think he came up with.
Phil X was probably my favorite. The epitome of short, but sweet. And I'll admit I do enjoy a good instrumental tune since they're so much easier for me to listen to.
The weakest... probably the Gaby song for me. Just didn't really do anything for me personally. Not a bad song, but it just didn't click. Although I certainly have no problem with people thinking outside the box.
And also glad to see progressive metal doing well for me. I'll admit I wasn't sure how Seventh Wonder was going to fare. Especially since that song is from a concept album.
Finally... I watched the Imagine Dragons music video... That was sure something.

I'm not going to comment on every song, just the top ones, the bottom ones, and a few that I feel like merit comments in the middle. Overall, I felt like there was a lot of mediocrity in this round. Hopefully, that will get better. I believe in you guys and trust those of you that didn't score well will step up your games!
Tier One: The Cream of the Crop 1.Johnny Cash – Rusty Cage: Using a Johnny Cash song is a sure fire way to win my top spot. The American Recordings records were absolute works of art and this song tipifies the Cash/Rubin recordings that served as a great coda to a legendary career. 2.The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – The Golden Age: I've been in love with this song since I heard it on the Heineken commercial. I love the singer's unique voice and the song is a real ear worm.
Tier Two: Good 3.The Byrds – Psychodrama City: I love The Byrds but this is not their best song. That being said, since I felt there was a lot of "meh" this round, it still scored near the top. 4.The Who – Eminence Front: See above. 5.AC/DC – Hells Bells: Classic song from a classic hard rock song. There's nothing more I can really add. 6.Imagine Dragons – Radioactive: A good choice, and could have scored higher if it hadn't been severely overplayed on Top 40 radio, which made it seem like a somewhat uncreative pick.
Tier Three: Mediocre 7.Seventh Wonder – Welcome to Mercy Falls 8.Brian McKnight – Back at One: There's nothing great about this song, but it got some help by inspiring a nostalgia pop by taking me back to middle school for a few minutes. 9.Gaby Moreno – Lejos 10.Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me 11.Peace – Follow Baby 12.Phil X – Flippin Out 13.Paramore – Hello Cold World 14.Haim – Forever
Tier Four: Unpleasant 15.Regina Spektor – Ghost of Corporate Future 16.Nate Dogg ft. Snoop Dogg – Never Leave Me Alone 17.Brantley Gilbert – Kick It in the Sticks: I'm a fan of country, and music like this really turns my stomach sour. This "bro-country" movement is not a welcome one as far as I'm concerned, as it relies on buzz words like "whiskey" and "hillbilly" and throws in obligatory mentions of trucks and backroads instead of the things that make country music great - genuine emotion, skillful songwriting, and impeccable storytelling. 18.Lights – The Listening 19.Jimmy Hart – Legends of Wrestling: I'm as much a fan of novelty songs as the next guy, but this one was almost unlistenable. We all know Jimmy Hart is not a singer, and that fact is made obvious in this song. It didn't sound like a singer singing about wrestling, it sounded like a wrestler trying, and failing, to be a singer.
Tier Five: Unlistenable 20.Joan Osborne – Right Hand Man: Oh my, those vocals are grating. 21.My Bloody Valentine – You Made Me Realise: Almost four minutes of out of tune guitar playing loudly over unintelligable vocals. 22.MC5 – Kick Out the Jams: Same as above, only worse. Look, I get that some people consider these guys to very influential, and that's fine. But personally, I kept hoping the song to come to a merciful end.

Rebuttal for my song Stinger: To say the guitar is out of tune is to ignore what shoe gaze/ noise rock is. There's a lot going on in that song, including vocals that are purposely used like an instrument and MVB essentially helped establish an entire alternative rock subset. I don't have a problem with its ranking and I defer to the judges, but if you're going to be Simon Cowell, I'm going to argue with you

Yeah, well, the cool judges liked it. Ok, maybe not. I miss Canctus, I hope he drops in. Would love to see his rankings, based on how he played last Season.

Shoot, I just realized my second round song pick may not qualify. While it's technically on the first album, it's part of a Remastered version. That may be bending the rules a little too far.
Thankfully I have a back-up pick sent as well so if that's the case then I can just use that one instead.
