If it rids us of the World title, then I'm all for it. Plot twist, it rids us of the WWE title.

They don't need two world titles without a second brand. I could see WWE unifying them as well.

Del Rio should have renamed it the Mexican Heavyweight Championship

If it rids us of the World title, then I'm all for it. Plot twist, it rids us of the WWE title. This is the company that unified two sets of tag titles and decided to go with the newer tag title lineage which dates back to Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit rather than going with the classic titles worn by the Wild Samoans, the Hart Foundation, Demolition, LOD, the Steiners, Edge and Chrisitan, etc. They also unified the two women's championships and went with the newer title lineage, rather than the title won by Moolah, Richter, Sherri, Alundra Blayze, Trish Stratus, Sable, Chyna, Lita, etc.

put Riley in the chamber and it would be just like Santino in 2012. I know you're not going to believe me, but I seriously think if they put Alex Riley in an Elimination Chamber match right now, somewhere around 75% of the audience (at least) would have no clue who he is. At all.

If it rids us of the World title, then I'm all for it. Plot twist, it rids us of the WWE title. If I had to choose between the Big Gold Belt and a glorified Hot Topic belt buckle for the Undisputed Championship Belt, I'd choose the Big Gold Belt every day. And twice on Sunday.

y'know what? i don't even care WHO is involved. it could be Alberto Del Rio versus Curtis Axel for all I care. as long as they get rid of that stupid worthless World heavyweight belt once and for all I'll be happy.

I refuse to under any circumstances ever watch another Orton vs. Cena match. Ever.

They could hype it as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time - 'two men walk in champion, only one man leaves champion' scenario. Only WrestleMania is big enough to host this match, and then the following PPVs after WrestleMania hosting the rematches. With WrestleMania XXX certainly likely to be hyped as the biggest ever, then it could happen. A card like: Title UnificationCena vs. Orton (Cena wins) Lesnar vs. Taker (Taker wins) Triple H vs. Bryan (Triple H wins) Big Show vs. The Shield (Big Show wins) Punk vs. erm... let's say Bo Dallas (no contest) 100 million buys guaranteed. They could hype it as the biggest match in the history of the human race, doesn't change the fact that it's Cena and Orton, a match we've seen about a million times already. If that is the top feud going into Mania, they'd be lucky to do 750k buys. Ahh come on - after the amount of pointing at the WrestleMania XXX sign that they'll do in the build-up then the whole "universe" will be handing-over the keys to their houses in order to see that match

I'm wired to love nostalgia and not deal well with new things, especially when it makes no sense to change it like those two examples above. With a company with that much history, lineage should be recognised and appreciated imo

I honestly have no problem with Orton/Cena at WrestleMania. They're the two biggest current remaining stars of the past 10 years and have never had a 1 on 1 WrestleMania match. I still think Punk/Cena deserves a WrestleMania match more, but that's another topic.

Part of me wishes they just did it at Survivor Series.
There's no reason why the unification HAS to take place at WM. The WWF and World Titles (the WCW Title was a much bigger deal than the current incarnation) were unified at a B PPV.
I feel that it's something that needs to be done ASAP. That way we don't have to worry about what happens to the Rumble winner and all that. They already got rid of the chocolate bar to help simplify things when they could've easily kept it in play until next summer and applied it to the unified title.

Remembers the time in that Rumble where both were left in the ring for a moment, pointed at the WrestleMania sign, and no one reacted. At all. Then they did it again later and still no one reacted.

There hasn't specifically been anything infering there will be a unification, but I expect Cena to get involved in the Authority storyline sooner rather than later.
I could see it.

For some reason I don't want to see a Unification, it's nice having two World titles gives more opportunities to guys - just that WWE isn't trying that anymore. I always saw it as the young guy's title...featuring the Undertaker from 2007 - 2010.

For some reason I don't want to see a Unification, it's nice having two World titles gives more opportunities to guys - just that WWE isn't trying that anymore. I always saw it as the young guy's title...featuring the Undertaker from 2007 - 2010. That's part of what killed it the World Title's prestige. It was okay when there was a clear brand split, and the young guys were given a true platform to shine on SD, but once the brand split ended, the World Title clearly went from being "the young guys' title" to being the "good but not ready/good enough/not your turn to be WWE Champion" title. The fact that multiple storylines are given higher billing over the WHC makes it come off as a booby prize. Nowadays, whenever we talk about certain wrestlers and say "they'd make a great World Heavyweight Champion." or "I'd love to see X be World Heavyweight Champion" imo it comes off as a backhanded compliment, even if that isn't the intent. It comes off as saying "He's not good enough to win the Big One, but I wouldn't mind it if he won the other one", though that sentiment may be true at times. Even John Cena really can't save the WHC, because it's obvious that this run is meant as a slight demotion for Cena in order to A.) keep him out of the way of the main storyline and B.) dial him back a bit because fans are sick of him casting such a huge shadow over the product. People compare the current WHC to the IC Title of the 80s-early 90s, but a major difference is that WWE never tried to pretend that the IC belt was something that it wasn't. It was clearly an upper midcard title. The WHC nowadays is also an upper midcard title, but WWE wants us to suspend disbelief and think that the people competing for it are A-List talents. We were never meant to think that Tito Santana or Ricky Steamboat were equal to Hulk Hogan, but we're supposed to think that Dolph Ziggler (even at his BERRIED-est) or Alberto Del Rio is equal to John Cena or CM Punk.

Yes, that angle that hasn't happened yet nor been hinted at is such a waste.
