never hated him. Boo him for the pantomime aspect, because he always wins and shhhh, but got a tremendous amount of respect for his work ethic and dedication to his craft.
I work at McDonalds, I take a Cena approach to work and aspire to become the top guy working there, I don't look down on anything they ask me to and I do it all with pride. I only started several weeks ago, this week is my 4th week, but I think I work hard there and always help others when there's not much to do, always doing other people's work for them.
any job I do, I do it all the way, I'm very motivated and as silly as it all may sound, I look up to him a lot in a professional sense and respect him a lot, I don't like how he allegedly cheated on his wife, that's not good, but his work ethic?, bravo, huge respect for him and his dedication, and I try to mirror that when I can.
I always push him to the moon on the WWE games too, realistically, he gets defeated too, but he's THE GUY on my games.

I missed quite a few of the Super Cena years, so I never really reached a level of proper hate. I did resent him a bit in the Nexus time when he was treated as fairly invincible, but Orton was even more protected and wasn't even relevant to the people he was burying, so his character got more of the hate from me.

I don't remember ever passionate hating him, but I started really being a fan of his since the Brock feud.

Don't know how passionate it was,but definitely hated him until the point of MITB 11. While marking out hard for Punk,I at the same time grew much respect for Cena at that point. Getting out to that hostile of a crowd and still presenting a damn good performance, while making Punk look like gold. Later that night,I started to like him more and more and after WM 28 it came to the point that I was pissed the f*** off that Rock won and pretty much became a Cena fan. Really glad he has the WHC now.

Last Sunday because the past two months of HHH/Orton/Bryan/Show was such garbage plus I hated Del Rio as WHC.

I never did. Hate him, that is. Wrestling needs a superman and it's always surprising when wrestling fans understand this the least. Right back from the days of the territories through to today via Hulkamania. There is usually a guy who doesn't lose, or at least, rarely loses. Usually the guy that's primarily responsible for the most bums on seats. It's what keeps people coming back.

I still hate his character. He can put on great matches if he's in there with the right guy, but his character (for me) is one of the most annoying I've witnessed since watching wrestling.

I don't believe that Cena is a superman is what bothers people as much as the way the WWE goes about making him a superman. For example, Cena laying outside of the ring while the ref begans to count and at the count of 9 Cena jumps up and runs in the ring. That is sort of thing is ridiculous. I have never hated Cena and respect him because he is a hard worker and seems like a decent guy but he was never my favorite.

For me, it was the Umaga Last Man Standing match. That felt like a freaking action movie, so exciting! These days I'm iffy on him, but I certainly don't boo when he comes out. How about you? I never hated him, my only time even disliking him is when he went on that tear through Jericho and Angle where he'd win in ludicrious situations like handi-cap matches. But I will say that Umaga match you mentioned was when I realized: "This dude really can put on a show."

Never really hated him but I was sorta whatever on him until ONS2 where I really became a fan of his.

around 2006 I realized he was never going away so I just accepted his presence. his match with RVD at One Night Stand 2 where he actually played the heel was probably when my opinion of him changed for the better.

2007 when he ran out of reasonable people to cheer for instead of him. Sorry, but no reign of terror is going to get me to cheer Khali or Lashley.
I guess 2009 I started to get annoyed again, but this time it wasn't because he wouldn't lose the title, it was that he'd lose the title and win it right back. Nothing is worse than cheap little baby title reigns.

My opinion on his hasn't changed, if anything it's been cemented.
Dude is a stand up person, and the fact that he loves the industry shows. I want people like that to succeed.
However, the combination of overexposure and absolutely zero character development beyond "this isn't a character" (when Total Divas either proves that it is), has me screaming "it was time two years ago, God damn".
Taking out the maybe 6 months of injury time he has been out, the dude has been on at least once a week, if not more, for nearly 9 years. THAT is oversaturation, and while I don't "hate" him, it does make me change the channel.
I'd enjoy him more if he would just really break character as he says he has. He says it's no gimmick, then stop with the "oh, I'm the only one the kids and the troops have to root for".
He's a solid to excellent worker, he can sell when they let him, and he can cut a damn good promo when he keeps it short. When he goes beyond 2 minutes, just like with Trips, I change the channel.
I remember the old Hogan line "Less is more" and maybe it's not just about what you do in the ring. Say less, and show up less, and it will mean more. If you're always there, then there's nothing special about it, and if you're always talking and always saying the same thing, then it means nothing.

I started to warm up to him after his last man standing match, then he carried The Great Khali in two above average matches, had a good match with Lashley and a solid match against Orton and I'm like damn this guy is the real deal. The only time I started to hate him was when he started to feud with Kurt Angle in 2005 until during that period in 2007. There was a few times in 2006 I was impressed by his ring ability in his WM22 match, ONS 2006 match, and Unforgiven 2006 match but I thought he was getting carried for the most part.
The hate was more along for his booking, and stupid ham sandwiches of promos and never ending title reign. I was just finally getting used to him in 2007 and he was having solid matches with everyone when I realized he was the real deal and the myth he can only have good matches if he's carried by a great worker is false.

Probably around early 2008 when I just stopped caring about him one way or another. It's kind of like living under a king or a military dictator. Unless there's a coup and he dies, he's probably not going away anytime soon, so why get bent out of shape over it?

There was I time I was a passionate Cena hater. Not sure when it stopped, but I didn't switch to a fan, either. I am just so beyond tired of the same shtick every week. Its telling when the guy is off tv, and not once did I say "you know what this show needs? John Cena."

I never HATED him, but I certainly respected him more after his feud with HBK, with him showing more skill in the ring.
(It wasn't HBK carrying him, either, because if that was the case, it wouldn't really explain how it was easily some of the best ring work of Shawn's second run.)
