I blame CN for this thing being or feeling rushed. The scheduling is awful, and then you have to finish up season 5 and the arc before a movie.

I'm going to also guess that Cartoon Network was stringing them along on whether a sixth season was happening or not. This feels a lot like what happens when a show isn't sure if it's being renewed and wants to tie up loose ends in a hurry. That said I feel like it really makes last week's episode pretty unjustifiable. Only the last 30 seconds actually accomplished anything and devoting the other ten minutes to working through the Blue stuff there would've given this whole special a lot more room to breathe.

CN Scheduling didnt make then focus on filler episodes for half of every season.
nah, they can`t structure stories for shit
there should been episode focused on blue and another for yellow.
Except nah,we can solve it in 2 minutes.(Given,Blue was fairly easy to convince already)

Really if anything now that I think about it if CN did cause them to have to rush this it might be a GOOD thing. Based on the show's usual pacing this would've been stuff we got to in season 8.

They should have learned from Adventure Time in how they did and structure story lines in specials that wouldn't make everything feel disjointed

Also, I've gotta call them out on what a total copout the resolution was. {Spoiler}They wrote themselves into a corner by having the Diamonds have an instant-win button and having White in particular able to brainwash people on a whim, so she just... decides to try and talk Steven into giving up instead of just doing that like she had with the rest of them, then gives up after one hit.
It's just bad writing. They had a villain too strong for the heroes to stand any chance against and so they just had them decide not to insta-win for no apparent reason then completely give up at the first actual opposition.

Completely disagree, she wanted to talk Steven down and make them doubt themselves. That's why they didn't "Insta-win", on top of that, who knows if it would have completely worked since Steven isn't fully a gem. So I dont see it as bad writing one bit.

Okay, first, WHY did she want to talk Steven down? There's no explanation. She just randomly decided to try confronting him directly instead of zapping him like she had every single other person who dared challenge her authority (other than Connie I guess, who we know it wouldn't have worked against, but she effortlessly took her down anyway) for no apparent reason beyond, "He's the main character." You can't even cite it as being because of being a Diamond because that didn't stop her with doing it to Blue and Yellow just for questioning her. As for if it might not've worked on Steven... That'd be fine if they had actually shown her TRY that. But they couldn't because that would immediately undercut her view that he and Rose are the same if it failed, so instead she doesn't try her powers just because they wanted to do that scene.

Dude, she wanted to prove to Steven that Pink was still alive, hence removing the gem and humiliating Pink. She had a plan, and it backfired. It's not that hard to get, sorry you're fired up about it though, I can see where you're coming from but yeah, makes perfect sense.

It's not that hard to get, sorry you're fired up about it though, I can see where you're coming from but yeah, makes perfect sense. I mean, I wouldn't really say I'm "fired up about it" - I do think it's bad writing but I'm also kind of just glad this arc is over instead of dwelling on it. It's more just it's a major hole in the story. I mean, yeah, she wanted to prove Rose was still alive but like... Why did she want to do that? That's the issue I'm having here. There seemed to be no reason for what she did other than because otherwise Steven wouldn't have won. Suddenly wanting to break him through talking when she just zapped everyone else into obedience and refused to even give Steven the time of day in the episodes before this just doesn't make sense. Why's the matter of Pink playing pretend so serious to her if Blue and Yellow going, "Hey, uh, maybe we can talk this out?" is grounds for immediate possession?

CN Scheduling didnt make then focus on filler episodes for half of every season. nah, they can`t structure stories for shit I think there comes a point when you have to accept the "filler episodes" actually are a huge part of what the show is.

I suppose, but I don't exactly think it's a coincidence that the most heavily praised season that marked the show really starting to take off is when the town was majorly on the backburner.

I have no idea if I'm going to watch the movie or not. Season finale really killed my interest in the series, and it doesn't really help it'd be waning for a long time before that anyway, but I do feel like I probably should at least see what the show has in store exactly now that... pretty much everything has been resolved.
