Bells and Whistles. This Round asked the would-be FAN Idols to send in one song that featured an instrument that wasn't a part of the traditional rock and roll trio of the guitar, bass guitar, and the drums. A bossa nova jazz quintet's blaring horns, a chamber pop's harpsichord solo, an avant-garde hip-hop producer's use of a tricked out car revving up, this round allowed contestants to expand their horizons and pick music from all over the musical spectrum.
This winner of Bells and Whistles has the option of picking the next category from a list of three categories related to adding something else to a musical performance, the categories to be reposted in another post. As in the prior Rounds, the scores of this Round and the next are cumulative and the bottom two (or more) scoring contestants will face off in the next of our Sing-Offs. Now, the scores:
