Either Vidal Nuno finally had a good game or the Red Sox's offense is even worse than the Yankees' typically is. It's the latter. On any given night, the Red Sox could have as many as six players in the starting nine who have no right being full-time players in the majors. Stephen Drew (.135 BA), David Ross (.174), Jonathan Herrera (.224), Daniel Nava (.223), Jonny Gomes (.235), and Jackie Bradley (.209) should all be bench players at best, yet the Red Sox call upon them more often than not, to try to shoulder the burden if the 1-5 hitters can't get the job done. If the 1-5 hitters in the lineup are struggling, you can be all but assured that the Red Sox will be shut out that night. You have Mookie Betts to look forward to. Dude looks legit.

Masahiro Tanaka allowed just two runs over nine innings but took a loss Saturday against the Red Sox.

Man, the Yanks' offense was especially terrible tonight. Now I know how Mariners fans feel whenever Felix Hernandez loses.

Masahiro Tanaka allowed just two runs over nine innings but took a loss Saturday against the Red Sox. This will probably be why either Toronto or Baltimore will win the division. One elite pitcher cannot win a division while several good pitchers can.

Well, no. The reason Toronto or Baltimore will win the division is because they can actually score runs. The Yankees' pitching is actually decent outside of Tanaka (well, except for Nuno; he's pretty bad). They just get no run support.

Chris Sale was not the guy we're used to seeing dominate the other team: 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 5 BB (!!!), 6 K, but the bullpen (by committee now) does hang on for him to get the W 4-2 over Toronto.
Dayan Viciedo hits a 3-run blast as soon as the Jays lifted Marcus Stroman for Dustin McGowan. Alexei added a run in the 8th, which was the margin of victory.

This has got to be it for the Blue Jays, lose 3 out 4 to the White Sox, have the Brewers coming to town, then Oakland, Los Angeles and the deathtrap called Tampa Bay where they can never win.
The next 12 will define their season before the break but I realistically see probably a 4-8 stretch which makes them just about .500 at the break and they will probably lose their AL East lead.

Someone hacked the Astros internal front office database and found a bunch of trades that were discussed in the past year. Most interesting one was a possible deal with the Marlins to acquire Giancarlo Stanton for George Springer and Carlos Correa that never went anywhere.
