I can't really decide on this one. I think it's between Edge and Punk. I'll go with Edge because he was the first to knock him off the mountain top.

CM Punk vs. John Cena is one of those feuds that could work with tons of different twists to it (both as faces, Punk as a heel, reluctant partners, facing a corporate stable together, brand warfare, Survivor Series captains, maybe Cena as a heel, etc.) and the matches will deliver, too.

For the longest time, I would have said Edge but now, I think the spot belongs to Punk. That really is this generations' Austin/Rock. It's magic every time they face each other.

Batista. Even though he wrestled Edge on 1,000,000 ppv's, Batista was more menacing and the feud was more entertaining.
Punk is his arch-rival. Little bit different story there.

Probably Edge or Orton.
They had real personal feuds.
Punk is just someone to compete against.

Got to pick Edge. He's the one who really help Cena break out. But Punk did help Cena take it to a whole 'nother level.

Punk.
I never thought of Edge as Cena's rival. Edge is just a guy who got his career defining moment at Cena's expense. Other than that, their 2009 feud is mostly a blur to me, and I got the sense that both guys were just coasting to stay "relevant" during that time.
Orton could've been that guy, but the chance to make them a great feud was ruined by Cena's injury and the focus shifting to Orton/HHH. By the time they finally got around to feuding in 09, it was too little, too late (or too much, too late) and it felt largely manufactured and forced.

Edge. Although, I may be biased, as the NYR where Edge cashed in was the first PPV I watched after my hiatus from wrestling, and I remember being pumped, because I'd loved Edge when him and Rey were teaming and when he was in the Brood, so seeing him win the belt was awesome to me, and I enjoyed the feud throughout.

Edge is his nemesis, Punk is his rival. Punk's the guy that he works his magic with; every time they're in the ring together, they both kick it into a high gear, in a way neither of them do with most. With Edge, on the other hand, they bring out the worst in each other, in a good way. Every time they faced, you could feel all they wanted to do, especially Edge, was to cause as much pain as possible to the other.

Edge or Punk would be my choice. Although the Rock is another possibility i suppose as it was a feud that spanned three wrestlemanias.
Edge had a great feud with cena and some fantastic matches, but i think the matches with punk were better and that punk has always seemed (since mitb 2011) more like cena's equal than edge did during their feud.

Batista for the majority of it felt forced and hokey, partially because for most of it they tried to make both men the babyfaces during it and play it off like a dream match thing people were begging for.
It wasn't until Batista turned heel and they locked up again that things really clicked. It was so good and there was so much potential to them left untapped. It really was the closest to Cena having that one true defining rivalry and this era having that one true defining main event rivalry.
But then Batista was gone. And, it was over just like that.
Punk is definitely a strong secondary contender. His stuff with Cena, notably during the Summer of Punk, came close to the work with Douchetista and Cena. Though I feel it hasn't yet hit the highs that managed to get.
Edge wasn't bad, but he was perpetually made to be Cena's lesser and that did hurt it a little. He was much more the Triple H to Cena's Austin than the Rock to his Austin. Or, the Triple H to his Rock and not his Austin.
Randy...doesn't even really belong in this discussion. Despite the machine's best attempts at trying to make it so, the two's rivalry never reached even close to what the other three did. And, to be honest, Cena and Orton never really had great chemistry, even at their best together.

He doesn't have one. That's been his biggest problem. He's a superhero with no supervillain.

I think in the future this poll will be dominated by Daniel Bryan. He has a special chemistry inside and outside of the ring with Cena and their matches have been more spaced out and if they continue only facing each other sporadically and at big meaningful moments it won't grow stale. They have the longest history too surprisingly. That's what made Rock/Austin special, much of their careers ran parallel with a few epic intersections.
