It looks terrible because the Intercontinental Title is an albatross and they need to get it off of Big E before his career is damaged by it. The title won't hurt him unless they start using him to put people over for no reason. If they continue to book him strongly, he'll be fine. Yeah, but he's the Intercontinental Champion. You just described what happens to the Champion.

I wish there was a bit more to the guy in the ring... a couple more throws, I like to liken BEL to Taz... I'm not saying go overboard with it, but if he's that strong, it's logical he would toss people around a bit more. Just a few suplexes would do the trick, maybe a sequence of them. Overhead Belly To Belly / T-Bone / German. That kind of thing.
Or just a good old, classic Race/Tsuruta BACKDROP.

Anyone else feel this will end up with Curtis either being on Superstars or NXT again and never appearing on the main shows? Given that it's arguable if Axel would have ever even gotten the belt if it wasn't for Fandango getting a concussion I doubt he's gonna get a lot of TV time or wins in the future. Now that I've said that he'll get the Del Rio push.

I'd imagine Axel's going to be swiftly demoted back to Superstars. Though I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him around, provided he always loses (or at least gets a better finisher), never has actual feuds, and continues to get to be the most uncomfortable man in the world on the mic.

It's a shame Ted Jr. quit this year, because Axel sure could use a tag team partner...
I wish they would've swerved Axel and had Heyman turn on him to align himself with Big E instead, though. What an uneventful breakup between Axel & Heyman. They just wanted to wash their hands of that and move on.

I like The Axel but I was ready for him to lose the belt, he didn't really do much with it.
And Langston was the perfect guy for him to drop it to. It's a step up for him, besides Axel it's been mostly guys that have been IC champ or on a higher level before, so it didn't feel like a happening. I love Big E's intensity in the ring and that he can move and bump really well for such a beast of a man. The little bit of promo stuff I've seen from him seemed good, I'm hoping to see more of that big personality out of him. Definitely want to hear a promo soon about winning the belt and what he's gonna do etc.

Happy that Big E has gold. Even happier that Axel doesn't. My sentiments exactly. I like Big E a lot but I'd have taken almost anyone on the roster over Axel for IC champ.

So, so stoked on this.
I don't hate Axel nearly as much as everyone else. He's not GOOD, but he's inoffensive to me.
However, Big E is just f***ing awesome to watch in the ring. Love this guy. I see big things in his future and I am excited.

I think he's still kinda green so having him do a bunch of suplexes is just asking for him to injure someone and kill his push. I like his more basic, explosive power offense so far. Maybe down the road in big matches where he needs to bust out some new stuff, he can start using those kinds of moves.

When I saw a couple fans throwing up the "FIVE!", I was hoping Big E would start the 5 count gimmick after the match

Big E. Langston had me at "oh, I got the mic now!" so I'm completely okay with this turn of events.

It's a shame Ted Jr. quit this year, because Axel sure could use a tag team partner... I think both lack just about everything that made their fathers great. My idea was to play to that idea. The big thing right now is reality TV with celebrities being famous for being famous. Why couldn't they do that here? I mean the average person doesn't know why the Kardashians and Hiltons are famous, outside of the fact they have a famous last name. Why not here? Why not have these guys be just like that? They're just living off their dads' legacy and shitting all over it. They don't even NEED to be good! Hell, even commentary could criticize them saying they COULD be good if they tried, but they'd rather party and do whatever and not care about worry consequences of things. As soon as they're "threatened with release", Ted Jr. is on the line with daddy trying to pull strings and keep him employed. I guarantee it would have worked. Instead we have Million Dollar Ted Jr. and Perfect 2.0. Ugh. Please.

Ted DiBiase was pretty damn charismatic and over, he just had unrealistic standards to live up to. It's just that the brand split ended and WWE lost the ability to spotlight more than one midcarder at a time.

When I saw a couple fans throwing up the "FIVE!", I was hoping Big E would start the 5 count gimmick after the match It still shocks me that they incorporated the five count for his theme but then established no significance to it. Him beating Axel with a five count would have been sweet but I wonder if WWE sees it as making their guys look weak.

Yes, Big E was doing the five count on NXT, but really he was only doing it to schmucks and not to anyone relevant. But even then, even the jobbers have to stay strong to some extent otherwise, beating them means nothing.

It's just that the brand split ended and WWE lost the ability to spotlight more than one midcarder at a time. I knew as soon as Legacy began that Cody was going to be the breakout star. Ted Jr. wasn't very charismatic at all, at least not even close to touching his father. As far as unrealistic standards...that falls entirely on him and creative. Most (and I mean all) 2nd or 3rd generation will survive by being able to distance themselves from their relatives. Bret Hart did it. Mr. Perfect did it. Goldust did it. The Rock did it. Randy *sigh* Orton did it. Cody Rhodes did it. Even Roman Reigns is on his way to superstardom. Why? He didn't focus on being a lame imitation of something he isn't. Ted Jr. just couldn't cut it. Trust Fund Ted even didn't take it as far as it could have. Instead...he comes out in an expensive car...and that's about it. No depth whatsoever.

This is just the beginning for Big E. I see him headlining some Wrestlemanias in the future. Its funny also that one time that Vince McMahon said the next Rock could be in FCW and everyone chose Big E as a joke.
As for Axel, he's got the athleticism of his dad but I think personality wise he's somewhat more his grandfather, and as bad ass as The Ax was in his day I'm not sure he'd get over today. At least he got to hold the belt that Perfect held.

Even though it's the IC title, I actually think it looks pretty good on him.

I like Big E. I just wish he hadn't done any jobs in the last couple of weeks. I miss the old school days wherein a guy like him got to just build some undefeated momentum, and then squash the IC champ/US Champ like Warrior with Honky or Goldberg with Raven.

Trust Fund Ted even didn't take it as far as it could have. Instead...he comes out in an expensive car...and that's about it. No depth whatsoever. Ted Jr. had one of the easiest characters to write for and play. It's not even a complicated character or hard to act just act like a obnoxious spoiled jock rich asshole from a 80's movie. He should of had street clothes of a cardigan, have him come to a ring in a mustang Boss 302 with the racing stripe or a camaro. Have him push Zack Ryder and Evan Bourne against the lockers. Have him the hot cheerleader girlfriend of Maryse who acts like a cheerleader and make him cheat on her and dump her with the Bella's. Get him surrounded by a posse who wear letterman jackets and a personal body guard. But nah he was a goon for the longest time he didn't act or look rich and when he had a singles run, he still didn't act or look like a rich kid. I do wish that WWE encourages wrestlers to wear street clothes that match their characters rather then a suit or their own t shirt and trunks. It could really help with establishing the character like imagine Ted Sr. just wearing his own shirt and trunks rather then his iconic flashy tuxedo? It isn't coincidence most of the top guys were allowed to dress however they wanted like Punk, Orton, HHH, Austin, Edge, Christian, Jericho, Jeff Hardy, etc.
