Portia Perez. She's cute but as a wrestler she is nowhere near as good as fanboys have made her out to be.
Not to mention I couldn't help but the feel that the obsession that parts of this forum had with her a couple of years ago to be creepy as well.

I don't think any woman who's been in the ring during the last 10-12 years has held a candle to Madusa/Alundra Blayze. Technically sound, well-trained, experienced in Japan - she was probably the closest any woman has come yet to making her realm as high-profile as the men's singles division. Natalya would be close, if not even better, but has to dumb down her style considerably to accommodate most of those hired during Johnny's days on the casting couch.
Moolah's shadow over women's wrestling has proven _very_ long, indeed.

Eve Torres. She is boring as hell. Yeah good for her in teaching Women's self defense but she has the personality of a wet towel.

Mainstream women's wrestling has never been good. At least in American-style wrestling it's always sucked. It all just look clumsy and botchy and was looking that way back when Moolah was strutting her stuff.

Eve Torres: Average wrestler, below average talker, sub-par ability to connect with the audience.
Layla: I get that she's hot but that doesn't automatically make her a good wrestler. She's not. Her overacting was absolutely horrible.
Kaitlyn: A very mediocre performer. I don't rag on her because she got over without the gratuitous overexposure of AJ but Kaitlyn is almost universally liked despite bringing little to the table.
AJ: Average wrestler, average talker, average actress. Is this what goes for top female in the company nowadays? The extremes within her fanbase (guys who want to bone her and girls who want to know her) range from insulted to ignited when anyone disagrees with her anointed superiority.

The only thing that irks me is those who are loved purely for eye candy purposes and not necessary ability as wrestlers. Folks like Maria, Maryse, Eva Marie, Stacey Kiebler, Torrie Wilson, etc. I get it: you find them hot, but what does that have to do with them being employed for a wrestling company or being showcased/hired over those clearly more suited for what the job entails?

And then people want them back, bashing today's diva's like AJ Lee and Paige, who are actually fans of wrestling and can actually work in the ring.

You should watch more wrestling. I've watched enough to know that the absolute peak years for women's wrestling in WWF/E (and, by extension, North America) was during the mid-90s - and that was because Vince was having to hire women wrestling stars from Japan to showcase Madusa's talents. The matches they put on were Broadways compared to anything that came after, even at the canonical peak of Lita/Trish. Few independents at the time were even using women as wrestlers; ECW famously had numerous valets who often saw in-ring action, but rarely if ever as "legitimate" wrestlers. It's only been since the end of the Monday Night Wars that independent promotions began using women as wrestlers to the extent now known, and much of that has been due to the dearth of overall talent now taking up wrestling because of the reputation independent promotions have re compensation, scheduling and commitments. Yes, I'm sure there are wrestlers out there on both sides of the gender divide who are working their asses off in the independents and would put half of WWE's roster today to shame. The question remains, however, of how much they're studying the craft and doing their best, alongside their fellow workers, to perfect it so that it becomes enough of a strength to pull numbers from WWE and make Vince improve his product to compete.

In my opinion, we're in the midst of that peak currently, and it has spanned the past 8-10 years. It is this time period that North American wrestling produced Beth Phoenix, Sara Del Rey, Cheerleader Melissa/Alissa Flash, Awesome/Amazing Kong, Gail Kim, Natalya, Sarita/Sarah Stock, Mercedes Martinez and about a dozen others who are admittedly wrestlers who don't work for Vince McMahon, so therefore, in the eyes of some, "don't count," because they are just indy wrestlers. If you go back and watch a Madusa match and compare it to the average match of the current era performers I mentioned, in my opinion, it doesn't hold a candle to them as far as her ring work is concerned.

Saraya Knight. I kept hearing what a great heel she is. Then I find that she kind of looks and sounds like a cartoon witch (minus green skin, obviously) and spouted cliches like, "Let's play," and threats to rip people's heads off and piss down their necks. I didn't think she was bad in the ring, but I found the praise as a great heel to be greatly overblown.

Emma. I just never understood any of the praise really when it came to her. She's a decent worker but that gimmick is just a killer to me. A female Santino just isn't entertaining to me at all & all the praise she gets just further makes me feel she's overrated every time I see her.

While AJ has better in ring skills then most divas (not including the NXT) she's still painfully average in the ring. I guess that just shows how bad the current divas are that people consider AJ so good in the ring. She's also annoying as hell on the mic.
