The Thanksgiving episode had four matches and two of them were short squashes. Didn't a recent episode have only two matches? Blah. I realize they don't have a big roster, but it's ridiculous.

Wasn't one of Dixie's excuses for cutting the roster down so that they could get everyone on the show?

It couldn't hurt to trim the backstage stuff somewhat and get some matches going.

I watched the one after BFG and I think there was 7 minutes of wrestling in the first hour-plus.
This was a Knockouts match and I think an EC3 squash of a local jobber.
I didn't keep watching.
I do this two or three times a year, give it another try ... and I always leave thinking they should change the name to Total Non-Action or Talk Not Action.

That used to be TNA's calling card. No matter how bad things got, you could always say, "Well, at least you can see better matches on Impact than you could on Raw on a weekly basis." That's no longer true and it hasn't been true for a long while.
I've noticed that TNA is starting to use a more simplistic style of booking by building up to a "big" main event featuring the stars while having the rest of the show be a bunch of nothing/inconsequential matches. That style just doesn't work when you have two hours of TV to fill, IMO. ROH can get away with it because they only have an hour to work with every week. When you have two hours, you need at least two "marquee" matches, one for each hour.

It's a free TV Show which means it's always going to be angle heavy and not as much wrestling as a PPV. Throw in the fact that most fans don't care how much wrestling is on and TNA is definitely being smart minimizing it.

What is the most loathed impact in TNA history? The show where the first hours only match was a fingerpoke of doom angle.

I would say wrestling matches are a high priority for wrestling shows, and that wrestling fans generally enjoy wrestling matches.

If that were true the biggest stars of wrestling in the United States would be Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Dynamite Kid, Lance Storm etc etc and not Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold etc etc.

Stone Cold was an amazing wrestler before his broken neck. 2. All those guys were able to carve a career for themselves. None of them were charismatic but they were respected everywhere they went. Chris Benoit was also incredibly popular back in the day. Sure he's been erased from history for justifiable reasons but he was incredibly popular.

If you're watching pro wrestling, even if you want big stars like Hogan/Rock/Stone Cold, you are watching wrestling because you want to watch wrestling.

The actual matches are filler and a good way to kill 20-40 minutes of the show. You also need the matches to move the story line forward sometimes. A random 20 minute match between two guys that does nothing though isn't important to anyone except the hardcore fans who know exactly what a reverse 450 suplex into a splashing senton is.

I don't know man, WWE has had plenty of good matches on free tv this past year and they haven't been "ratings poison" or whatever like you seem to think. I mean you take the wrestling out of wrestling and all you have is a really bad soap opera.

Wrestling fans at the end of the day want to see wrestling. It doesn't matter whether it's a five-star classic or storyline-driven, you need actual matches.
