I'm shocked that he's still employed. I never thought he was any good in the ring, he's not a good promo-cutter, and he can't do commentary to save his life. Give his awesome theme to someone else and move on.

Boot him out the door. He's nothing special as it stands and his commentary is a low point for NXT every week he's on it. If he really does care about his craft, he'll take his release, go get some more in-ring experience elsewhere and if all that goes well, come back new and improved.
Or he could just disappear forever. I'd be totally cool with that.

If Alex Riley parts ways with the company, then he isn't even "Alex Riley" anymore. He loses his WWE given name and persona, the very thing that would make him marketable to indy promotions to begin with. It would suck having to watch him start over from scratch without the name value that most WWE alumni would have. And I'd like to be positive, but if Riley leaves, he's not coming back no matter how much he improves. When's the last time WWE rehired someone they released who wasn't either VERY young during their first run (Masters, Ryback, Sandow) or a product of the Attitude Era (Christian, Hardys, Tensai). Riley is 32, and WWE has this weird thing where they don't sign anyone over 30. I'd rather see him as a WWE jobber for life than be stuck having to start his entire career over from scratch. As an in ring talent, Riley isn't as bad as he's made out to be. And I think he deserves to have a successful and respectable career in the wrestling business, and With WWE's monopolization of the wrestling industry, he won't get that elsewhere. He'll just be a joke, and he deserves better than that. If Riley wants to improve his craft, he needs to stop wasting time announcing, get his ass in the Performance Center (I think WWE focuses too much on developmental and not enough on the current guys). There are seasoned guys in the company both on the roster and in backstage roles that he could be going to for advice, and to train/practice with. Riley sucks because WWE let him suck and never gave him the proper opportunities to get better. They shoved him into a non-wrestling role where he got rusty, followed that up with a forced mega push for no real reason, and then let him drop off the face of the earth, because he turned out not to be the "Next Big Thing". What was he supposed to do with that?
