For the last couple months, I have been working to put together a charity benefit with my parents for a friend of the family. Tom Davis is a Chicago mailman, & is suffering from both Prostate Cancer, & Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Because of this, we have set up the aforementioned benefit. The benefit takes place on January 5, 2014. In addition to all you can eat food/drinks, & live entertainment, we will also be holding raffles, & silent auctions. While we have gotten some donations from local businesses, just about every major company has turned us down. 100% of the money we raise is being donated to Tom's family, therefore it is imperative we bring in as much as we can. This is the reason I turn to you FAN. If you have anything you are willing to part with, please consider donating the item(s) to our raffles/silent auctions. We will accept just about anything, assuming it isn't in poor taste, or in poor condition. Wrestling, sports, comics, video games, celebrities, TV, movies, books, basically anything you think people would be interested in winning/bidding on.All of the information about Tom, his health & the benefit can be found at deliveringfortom.com, below is one of the posters we have been hanging up around the neighborhood. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to even read this post. If you are interested in making a donation, feel free to post in here, but also shoot me a PM so I don't miss it. Let's do what the big companies wouldn't, and help out the little guy! Thank you FAN!

Just a quick update. So far, I have received one donation, which I/we are very grateful. I was asked by that poster that he remain anonymous, & not reveal what he donated. To publicly answer a PM I received, yes, I did get permission from Kash to make this thread.
We are just a little over two weeks away from the benefit now. I know this is a difficult time of year for a lot of people for many different reasons. With that being said, if there is anything at all you could donate, no matter its value, please please do. I hate feeling like I'm begging for help, but I guess that's what I'm doing.
I've also decided that if anyone is willing to make a donation, I can offer some type of graphic design or audio production for you in return. It can be something like making a logo for your website, or photoshopping something , or make a new signature for your account. I'm flexible here, & am willing to consider just about anything within reason. Hell, if we weren't all spread out around the world, I'd come paint a bedroom for you. In addition, everyone who makes a donation, no matter how big or small is being credited in both the program at the benefit, and on the website once we have our final list.
I also want to make something very clear. In no way whatsoever am I, or anyone else involved profiting from any donation here, or elsewhere. 100% of our net proceeds after paying for the benefit are going to the family to pay their enormous medical bills.
Again, I/we sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this, and/or making a donation.
Thank you!
Dave

This is the last time I'll bump this thread, I promise!
Just wanted to remind everyone the benefit is only one week from today! To me, that's crazy to think. We first found out about Tom at the end of August, and got the ball rolling on the benefit in early September. I mentioned in the NFL thread how fast this season flew by, but the time has felt even faster when talking about the benefit.
I remember the first email my dad sent out. It was to let everyone know Tom was sick, & to guage people's interest in putting together a benefit to help out with his astronomical medical bills. The response was tremendous, & here we are today. It feels both like so long ago, and just the other day, at the same time.
Tom & my dad went to high school together, lost touch over time, but eventually ended up working at the same post office & became close friends. Since then, our family got to know his, & they even came to my sister's wedding. In fact, the picture of Tom & his wife Anna in the poster above, is from her wedding. On a funny side note, my dad & I are both in the picture too! That's my dad in the black suit between Tom & Anna, & I am in the green shirt over Anna's right shoulder!
We've put a lot of work into this benefit, & I know we will be successful in helping this family out in their greatest time of need. Has it always been easy? Absolutely not, but we keep on marching forward. I know that we have done everything we possibly could to make things easier for Tom and his family.
Like I said at the beginning, this will be the last time I ask for help. If you do have an item you'd like to donate for our raffles/silent auction, now is the time to get it out before it's too late.
If you would like to make a monetary donation through the website, no matter how big or small, please do it. As far as I know, the ability to donate through the website will be avaialable as long as it is still up. I believe right now the plan is to keep the site up for a week or two after the actual benefit.
If you are unable to donate anything, please help by passing on the word. Share the website on Twitter, Facebook, or another social media site.
If you're unable to do that, then tell someone close to you that you love them. Life is too short, & you never know when it will be flipped upside down.
Once again, I thank each and every one of you for not only reading this, but for allowing me to present this to you over the last couple months, whether it be by this thread, or having one of our signs in my signature. You guys are the best!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Dave
