After reading the title of this thread, I don't think charisma means what you think it means. Yea. It seems people are confusing great mic skills with actual charisma. Orton got the crowd super invested in his matches as a baby-face which by itself shows he's charismatic. He's got charisma/presence. But where did his personality go? I think that's the point of the thread.

He's like Samson, all of his Charisma was in his hair. It never came back even after he got past his legacy look.Much like Samson, his hair was his power charisma. Damn it all, got ninja'd.

Orton's one of those guys who doesn't have a lot of natural charisma to begin with but can be very entertaining when he's put in a role he thrives in. currently he... isn't.

and as long as WWE keep him employed he'll entertain the idea of maybe giving it back some day.

If they're chanting boring at you, you are not showing your charisma.

Orton has a tendency to go into phases where he isn't as emotional and feels really one note. His latter days as the heel Viper and as the chosen one of the Authority are the two biggest cases. But you can go back and see his initial Evolution run as the Legend Killer, feud with Taker, run in Rated RKO, and initial push as the unstable guy punting people in the head, where its amazing how he seems so much more filled with life. Hell even his babyface run from Wrestlemania 26 to when he lost the title of Henry, the guy actually seemed alive out there.

Orton is average on the mic, but he can, even on a weak day, get the crowd to react by using his body language, mannerisms etc. If that's not charisma, I don't know what is.

The problem with Orton as a character as well as a wrestler is he's built around his turns, all his hottest periods are whenever he just turned face or just turned heel again. When he's just hanging around and stuck in a rut, he sucks, because he's meant to be this explosive unpredictable force. Right now he knows he's going nowhere so he's just doing his routine, in the ring as well as on the mic and that's boring.

It all vanished following that time he did that jumping split in the ring.
I mean really, how can you ever top that in terms of sheer spontaneity?

Admittedly I don't remember Orton being that charismatic but it's entirely possible as I missed decent chunks. Still, I do remember Jericho coming back as a face and basically saying Orton was an uncharismatic bore which was totally true and still seems to be. Admittedly, I've always wondered why they let him get away with all those puntings that 'injured' people without actually having him face an ounce of retribution for it. Surely a few of them would have held a grudge. They should have come back, beat him down and then taken turns punting him in the head.

He almost topped it when he fell through the announce table, got up and gave a little wag of the finger. And everything he did in the Miracle on 34th Street Fight match.
