Nepotism is ok in some cases. People bash it, and I can see why. Guys getting advantages or signed due to a relative. I remember at one point, WWE developmental was pretty much all second or third generation wrestlers. But sometimes, they can hold their own, or have been around wrestling their whole lives.
I'm a product of nepotism in the industry I'm in. Basically, my uncle and Dad got me fast tracked out to a job and had I not been related to them, there's a good chance that I might not have what I do today. You work for it though in the end, and you still have to pull some of the weight. Hell, even in TNA, Vince Russo had his son working for the company, though I do believe it was something in Nashville, at least some sort of backstage role. Nothing wrong with that, in fact that's great. He's probably a young kid, one of his first jobs, getting a taste of the wrestling industry. Nothing wrong with that.
Then, you have Brooke Hogan. Her music career bombs, so she gets signed to TNA as the head of the Knockouts, which is horrible, at least Hulk Hogan or Sting as General Managers makes some sense due to their experience, or even how Vince McMahon made Brad Maddox the GM of Raw as an obvious puppet who doesn't do much. This made no sense from a storyline perspective. At least when Traci was Knockouts Law, she'd been in the company since almost the start of it. So we have that, then we go onto her acting.
She was very awkward. Remember that episode where they stripped Eric Young and ODB of the tag belts. She reminded me of this tall, awkward 14 year old girl standing up in front of the class to present her social studies project. If that wasn't bad enough, EY decided to have some fun and just do shit to throw her off script, at least that's what it looked like. And, if you look at it from a kayfabe perspective, the majority of the Knockouts Division was killed off under her control, so that just makes her look incompetent on air.
TNA was really smart cutting her, as a bat with nails in it like Janice certainly would be good at that (it was really good at it this year). One of the worst signings in TNA.
