You honestly think the same old tired cliches about 30 men fighting for one prize and main eventing WrestleMania would be any better? It's a 90-second commercial designed to grab people's attention, not a segment on Raw building storylines. What attention does it grab? "That's funny, I really must buy a wrestling ppv" attention? I'm annoyed by how this irrelevance is tolerated. Like the poster last year or the year before with Santino over a crystal ball. Why was that relevant to anything? So much of their advertising is pointless and irreverent for the sake of it and more people need to call them out on it instead of indulging writers who are misrepresenting the product as part of a stepping stone to get on the SNL sketch-writing team. If you're building a cookery show - you promote food. Building a boxing match - promote using something related to boxing. Promoting a wrestling match? Apparently you just do any old crap because all that matters is grabbing people's attention - apparently. I look forward to the next UFC ppv that's promoted by someone waiting in line at the store. I'm sure it'll be hilarious and everyone will think "That amusing little queue scene has put me in a right mood for some MMA" - it'll work a treat If the standard is "it has the lolz" then to be honest I think we have the product some of us deserve. wrestling is seriouz bizness

The wrestlers are doing the skit in their wrestling attire. That kind of indicates that the commercial is wrestling related.

Roman Reigns should headline Wrestlemania based on that spot alone. That was amazing.

I like the idea for it, but to advertise a pay per view based around wrestling, it's the same problem stuff like the Sheamus Power Ranger poster has; it's not advertising wrestling so much as it's advertising a bunch of lines which all in all are awful jokes.
I mean that's me looking at it seriously, but beyond Roman Reigns and Goldust I didn't really see much funny about it personally.

Speaking of SNL, WWF had Mr T and Hulk Hogan on that show to promote Wrestlemania. They performed in some skits to entice casual fans into ordering the ppv. WWF decades later sent Rock, HHH, Mick Foley, and Big Show to promote Rock's movie and the upcoming ppv. They performed in skits way more wacky than this commercial. And let's not forget the other Royal Rumble commercials where the wrestlers were dressed as the Jets and the Sharks from "Westside Story". And the time they were fighting on the subway in NY. Diehard wrestling fans know if they are going to order a ppv or not or search for an illegal stream. Casual fans needs enticement into buying. Fun commercials goes a lot way in getting their attention and eventually their dollars. They been doing it for decades since the rise of Hulkamania. I don't get why now it's a huge deal. Sometimes you got to set back and enjoy things instead of over-analyzing every single detail. Not everything has to be SRS and Best for Business.

Do these air outside of WWE TV? I'm guessing it's just shown to fans who are already have decide whether they're going to watch or not.
Really, if you base your decision to buy a pay-per-views based on commercials that are often meant to be cute and not serious then you're doing it wrong.

Actually the WWE ppv commercials air on different networks. I been watching Comedy Central & HLN and they play one. They definitely play on On Demand and PPV Preview Channel. All wrestling fans aren't the same. There is not a right way or wrong way to be one.

All wrestling fans aren't the same. There is not a right way or wrong way to be one. Huh. I didn't know that. If it's shown to people who aren't regularly watching, I can see the argument for more gripping commercials and I do now. My initial post was typed out under the assumption that these commercials were only for people who watch the weekly shows already. If that were the case, it is a little silly to me that an established fan wouldn't watch something based on a preview. It's like someone skipping an episode of their favorite TV show based on the preview being lackluster or a Marvel fan not watching "Iron Man 3" because the trailer didn't seem too great.

Flip this around though. Imagine you are speed dating and one chick comes up to you and says she's the best in the world, one says she used to have a moustache, a nice on at that and another just kinda flexes, looks at themselves and asks are you in love yet? I'm pretty sure I'd hit the buzzer all three times, though I'd like to see the second ladies moustache before hand. Doesn't matter what I would do in that situation. It's a commercial that should be promoting the PPV but it only serves to denegrate the superstars. The women is "us" and what we are saying is that we don't "want" any of the superstars. It used to be about building up everyone. It's why they used to have an over midcard. now, it seems to be about tearing them down and it baffles me to no end. Sorry if I'm being too "tight". I don't know, if we're being that literal the woman is looking for a romantic relationship with someone and a bunch of oiled up wrestlers happen to be the candidates, so if the woman is us the implication is we watch wrestling for a potential date. I would dare suggest this is a bit of overthinking, WWE dedicates enough time on their actual shows telling us their roster is shit and should feel bad for even being born, this is just an absurd commercial designed to get a chuckle and create some awareness. I kind of appreciate them throwing a bone to guys like Cody Rhodes and Curtis Axel for it.

Roman Reigns should play a vampire in True Blood.
Also that's the second time this week Orton has been entertaining, I hope in continues.

WWE is like any other major, well known, brand. Everyone knows what they are. They just need to keep reminding people that they're there in wacky and creative ways.
Btw, no one brought up, the whole speed dating and buzzer thing was to make a reference to Rumble's timed intervals.
