I have my reservations about Rudd playing either Ant-Man...but in Wright I trust. He's one of the few directors going today that has put out consistently a movie I love every time he's made one, and practically each time steps up his game with them too. He's yet to disappoint me and so if anybody can spin this into gold, it would be him.
Though man, we almost had JGL in the Marvel Movieverse...that would've been amazing.

I love Ant-Man...but I just don't know if this is going to work. I just don't see the average movie-goer thinking, "Hey, lets go see an that Ant-Man movie." I haven't been skeptical about any other major superhero film. If an Ant-Man movie can top the box office, then superhero movies WILL. NOT. DAH. If Ant-Man can make money then Warner and DC have absolutely no excuse for not investing in anything that isn't Batman or Superman.

Rudd as Pym is a much better idea than JGL as Pym. JGL is a bit young for the role in my opinion.
Granted, if the script is as it was originally, it wont matter, as Pym will be old and will never join the Avengers, as the idea was that he was a hero in the 60s and it'll be Lang, in the modern day, being Ant Man with the odd flash back to Pym.
I've always hated that idea, and the more and more I hear of this film the less and less interested I become.
This film should have been put in to GotG's place, and introduced Pym, Wasp and Ultron. The Avengers 2, followed swiftly by GotG (in the current spot for Ant Man) could have woven more of the Thanos stuff in, while having Pym and Wasp join the Avengers proper (which may ahve relagated Wanda and Pietro, but without Magneto or Wonder Man/Vision, neither are very interesting anyway).
What could have been if Marvel hadn't cateered to Edgar Wright, especially considering what a disappointment 'The Worlds End' was.

No amount of Daniel Bryan "YES" gifs can properly convey how happy I am at this news. Rudd deserves it, and I think he'll do very well in the superhero realm.

Jason Segel has signed on to play Ant-Man's famous sidekick Bill Foster/Goliath (complete with unconvincing blackface) fixed.
