linkSo yeah, as a guy who does Chargebacks/Fraud for one of the local banks, I would say your best bet, FAN, is to check all your credit card and debit card accounts if you've been there during 11/27-12/15.

Of course they can't, because there are other angry knee jerk types who haven't even been affected by this hogging the line to shout at the poor call centre staff.
If these people didn't call then the people who have actually been affected by it and need to speak about it with them might be able to get through.
I'm not sure what US law is but in most places the card issuer is responsible for refunding any fraudulent activity.
Debit cards unfortunately though are not.

Actually, with the new Regulations going in, and it may very from institution to institution, but I think if a cardholder has unauthorized transactions on their card, the institution has to make them whole while investigating it. At least my bank has to.

My mom uses her Target card to charge for stuff in other places than Target. Needless to say, I'm very concerned about this.

If the US didn't have such weak security on credit cards this stuff wouldn't happen so often. Look at fraud rates in other countries, next to noting compared to us. Mostly because we use old magnetic tape technology when every one else uses microchips.
As an aside, it isn't Target's fault, but people treat them like the villain, and not, you know, the damned thieves.

Apparently digital tech is replacing the ol' magnetic tape tech here in the USA in 2015. .........this won't speed it up, naturally.

To be fair, when you consider how many times in a day someone could swipe their card and the paranoia that something like this could cause when shopping at other places, it's kind of understandable to assume that Target should've done something sooner. It doesn't make it true, but it's understandable.

I bought some stuff from there tonight and they made me swipe my card 4 times claiming it didn't read it the first 3. Should I be concerned?
