Well, if you think he's already interesting then this thread isn't for you. However, for people who keep saying how boring he is what could he do or what could be modified about him that would grab your interest.
I actually, wasn't bothered that he won the MITB way back when and think he's been a lot in this recent run than he has been for YEARS. However, Orton being more interesting than he was in past years isn't saying all that much. I'm honestly not sure what could really spice him up. I was thinking HHH/Orton heel vs. heel could be interesting as a short 1 month feud that gets Orton off on a better food than he's on now after getting a clean win over HHH on PPV. However, there are just so many problems with that potential feud just thinking about it. First, it could it doesn't seem appropriate during the Road to Wrestlemania, second heel vs. heel are tough enough to book as it is and third fans would just brush it off as HHH trying to put himself over. Plus, would Trips even do the job?

Also, another (bad?) idea that I had. What if Orton could be like a heel version of a fighting champion. He defends on nearly every show, against midcarders and main eventers alike, but almost always cheats to win. Kind of like one of Flair's old school NWA runs. I don't think we've really seen a run like that in a while and it would fit Orton's current character.

I think he's been improving lately, actually. When the Authority angle started, he felt like a complete cipher and proxy for HHH, but since he switched from doing to the slow monotone to the angry, entitled jackass promos, he's been coming into his own a lot better.

I think most people have seen Orton enough in the past 10 years to make a final judgment. I just believe for most people who find Orton boring, there is very little Orton can do within reason, to change their opinion on him.

Heel turn by not exposing his glorious thighs to the world. This leads to the Orton vs. Vince feud to end all feuds.

Being around more crowds that fluster him. He's much more entertaining when he's legitimately upset; proof being with the promo he gave on Raw after the crowd chanted "boring" at him. He was brilliant.

There's nothing "they" can do, it's all on Orton. And that's the problem. You see, when he's on, he's arguably one of the best in the company. But he seems to indeterminately alternate between being on fire and just not giving a shit, half-assing his way through his own routine.
The only thing "they" can do to make him more interesting is try to keep a steady fire lit under his ass, but in the end it's all on him.

I can agree with this. Continuing with Monday would be a very good start. Give us a lil Evolution/RNN Randy to go along with being vicious. I think his whole "unhinged" character, which as you say was mostly the whole monotone deal, is where I lost interest in the first place.

Start showing some backstage skits where Orton's ego and insecurity with how neglected he feels by Hunter and Stephanie have caused him to develop Multiple Personality Disorder. Have the voices mentioned in his theme become real. They're all pre-recorded by Orton doing a gravelly voice, a creepy child voice, and a happy-go-lucky 50's Guy all at war with his head. Have him talk to himself in front of Renee and others in the backstage areas, and have him yell at the corner like his other personalities are his tag-team partners.

I think a (small) step back in the right direction would be to bring back the colourful tights he used to wear around '03-'05. He's been better this year with the two tone designs, but it's all still mainly black and kind of drab.
Outside of completely superficial things like that, I'd like to see him be a little more animated beyond his crappy psycho stuff. Add a little comedy element to his character so he's not such a one note arrogant heel. He seemed a little better with that a few years back during his SmackDown run.

Also he needs to grow his hair back out. I like that he seems to be a bit more cocky and arrogant in his demeanor nowadays, but It's a bit awkward to watch him cut promos the way he does with his current look. It's like WWE realized that the "Apex Predator" doesn't fit too well in this storyline, so they've dialed it back a bit and had Orton act more like a "normal" person. But he still looks like the psychotic serial rapist, so it just comes off really weird.
